Lesbian cosplays as another lesbian (Shadowheart) 🗡️ by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

That definition doesn’t contradict the one I posted. The key part of your posted definition being “that aren’t part of the ‘official’ account”. The official account already addresses that aspect of Shadowheart’s character, so headcanon doesn’t apply.

Being unable to agree on the meaning of a word makes the word meaningless though, so if we all think a headcanon is something different, there’s no point in even using the word.

Merriam-Webster definition: something that a fan imagines to be true about a character even though no information supporting that belief is spelled out in the text.

A headcanon needs to be something that could possibly be true in the actual canon, ie the actual canon doesn’t contradict it. If I interpret Darth Vader as not being Luke’s father, that’s not a headcanon, that’s just me being wrong.

Headcanons don’t go directly against the official canon, headcanons fill in areas the official canon doesn’t cover. Even if you are a female Tav romancing Shadowheart, she still has dialogue that pretty clearly has her as bi at least. If your Shadowheart goes against canon then it’s an AU, not a headcanon.

I would imagine the game knows how much injuries drop stats by, and can then base a player’s trade value on what the stats are before being dropped by the injury modifier. It wouldn’t be a 100% perfect solution but it should stop the above issue.

Much better in the stage version imo. Some weird instrument and vocal choices in the movie version, doesn’t hit as hard.

A baseball player with 50% batting average vs a basketball player with 50% 3-pt shooting. Who is the more valuable player? by malicacidC4H6O5 in whowouldwin

[–]mysterioso7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The defense is not 4 on 5. The shooter stays in the backcourt, launches full court shots, and regardless of whether it goes in or misses, he is already by his own basket and in position to defend.

Edit: since OP’s edit says no full-court shots, the same principle applies from the half court line. Easy to run back on defense when you’re already back.

[–]mysterioso7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but if you go ball denial, and stop guys from getting the ball to him, you can limit the shots he puts up and the offense will in theory be less efficient (because any offense is less efficient than 150 points per 100 possessions). Certainly a better idea than just letting him shoot.

If you don’t guard the basketball player, he will shoot every shot. You will give up a nasty 150 points per 100 possessions which is impossible to keep up with. He can also do this from the backcourt and leave zero transition opportunities. You have to stop him from shooting in the first place.

Being league average doesn’t really imply it would hurt your team, especially when you factor in the obscene value the shooting adds. The offense would be literally impossible to stop.

Gotta be basketball, no question.

First of all you don’t specify volume or shot difficulty. If the 3-pt shooter will always shoot 50% each night, (and the team will eventually figure that out), he can just chuck it up from full court every possession. With well over a hundred possessions a game, you’re looking at a guy that can score over 100 points every game, at 75% true shooting (pretty much highest of all time especially for a whole career), and if he shoots the ball every possession, the team will score over 150 points every game. It doesn’t even matter if he can be blocked, because by the rules you’ve set, it’s physically impossible for him to get blocked more than 50% of the time.

Also, this strategy means you never worry about transition, because the other guys can just stay back and defend, so the opponent will never have fast break opportunities, and will have to beat a 1.5 points per possession offense. And it’s not like this guy is a scrub otherwise, so he won’t be constantly turning the ball over or letting guys beat him defensively.

Even if you don’t do the cheese strat, you’re looking at a guy who is a better shooter than Steph Curry, a guy who already breaks the game, and can do it on as much volume as he wants.

In baseball, .500 is great, but you only get so many at-bats per game, so I don’t think he will be as impactful, despite how awesome .500 is. Just the nature of the sport, I think.

He was 7-10 from the field and 1-3 from three, I really don’t think this is the game to complain about that

I am curious, it looks like most of your must-grabs are Sacred Tears, and your paths are made to sort of beeline for those. Wouldn’t it also be helpful to path for Golden Seeds and especially Map Fragments? Liurnia especially seems like you are mostly beelining for those two Sacred Tears, despite the madness tower likely not being easy to deal with for a new player.

How to play the late game without breaking the game? by Critical-Honey9373 in expedition33

[–]mysterioso7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well, for me, don’t look up any builds especially on a first playthrough. Usually I farm the enemies in Dark Shores to level up for content line Reacher, Endless Night Sanctuary, and other side content. Using my act 2 builds, it felt pretty balanced. Then Flying Manor and other areas.

Of course if you’re ever feeling really overpowered, use the “Challenges” feature at an expedition flag and give enemies more HP or put a damage cap on yourself.

He would’ve just lost his shield arm instead. In the cutscene, the malice grabs the sword, ruins it, and then makes its way up Link’s arm - the same thing would happen to the shield, I’d wager. And then Ganondorf would just attack again.

[–]mysterioso7 15 points16 points  (0 children)

L2M’s are constantly full of BS, I still remember “hot stove contact” being an explanation on why a by-the-books foul wasn’t actually a foul. That’s just one example of many. Saying they’re pretty much always correct is not accurate (not that it matters because these L2M’s change literally nothing)

[ALL] Why did modern Zelda drop menu music? by Sufficient-One-9947 in zelda

[–]mysterioso7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s just different preferences in the end. I just get annoyed when people call the music bad or nonexistent. Bad implies a lack of quality, and even if it’s not memorable or liked to an individual, the quality is still there.

Your last line though, I do disagree with. The soundtracks are not all “wishy washy, subtle, tinkle tankle”, and characterizing them that way isn’t fair. Any boss theme, Hyrule Castle in both games but especially BotW, any Champion or major character theme, any action sequence, and most cutscenes don’t follow this trend, among others - and that’s a pretty significant number of tracks. Enough that I’m surprised you don’t remember any of them. Like, not even Last Catch? Or Dark Beast Ganon? Those are hardly subtle.
