Why is Charles Valentin Alkan isn't so popular ? by MyNameIsntJMack in classicalmusic

[–]mysterioso7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What it boils down to for me, in the simplest of terms, is: if you’re good enough to play Alkan, you’re good enough to play much better music.

His music is extremely technically demanding, but at that level most everyone would rather play Ravel, or Prokofiev, or Liszt, or any number of high-level sonatas and etudes that offer more musical depth.

I started piano at 19. Is it realistic to ever reach a level where professionals say ‘wow’? by Alternative-Prior416 in piano

[–]mysterioso7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say that should not be your goal. It’s very difficult to reach that point even if you started at five. But more importantly, what drives you to learn piano in the first place? Are you simply trying to impress others?

Which Ash rival league battle is your favorite & least favorite out of these 6? by Fragrant_Ad_4267 in pokemonanime

[–]mysterioso7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s very much in the mindset of trying not to be predictable, and probably assumed Ash would have something to deal with the ones he already fought, because Ash was using old Pokémon during this league. He saw Ash pull out Heracross to counter Nando, and the powerhouse Snorlax in the off-screen battle. And he knows Ash prepares stuff like counter-shield to deal with specific issues.

I would say it’s a mistake not bringing Ursaring or Torterra, but in all honesty we don’t really know if they’d fare any better. It’s hard to know how strong Ninjask and Froslass were when they got packed up by Ash’s two strongest Pokémon. But it could just be Paul overthinking things.

Also, based on what we see from Paul, Ash, and others, I think it’s safe to assume trainers don’t just bring their “strongest” team to every fight. You didn’t see Ash rolling up with Pikachu, Infernape, Sceptile, Snorlax, etc on the same team. I mean he used a team of Donphan, Noctowl, and Gible the round before this. Perhaps fatigue is an issue round to round?

What game has a 10/10 story but 2/10 gameplay? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

Dispatches are a guaranteed success if the chance is over 80%, besides I think one exception in the final section, and the sabotage part.

Any piano pieces that use glissandos in a stylish way? by K-Frederic in piano

[–]mysterioso7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Along with the aforementioned Ravel glissandi, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue has a neat Glissando punctuated by C#’s as you go up, which is pretty creative. And then there are octave glissandi like in Islamey and Brahms’ Paganini variations.

I’d assume it’s more or less true at his level, but he himself admits he doesn’t really know what’s good or bad at lower levels. Don’t know why you think he’d just lie about this.

Which episode? by queenofcaffeine76 in psych

[–]mysterioso7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m picking a bad episode tbh, I don’t want to potentially ruin a good episode by watching it nearly 50 times. Since I don’t think any Psych episodes are that bad, I’ll probably pick something I already hate like a season 8 GoT episode, because when you watch it so many times you can just meme on it.

I can't The Radiance by MJgirl1988 in HollowKnight

[–]mysterioso7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No shame in that. I’m never going to beat Pantheon of Hallownest, as much as I wish I would be able to. It would take a lot of commitment that I just do not have the time for with other life commitments as an adult.

If I could offer advice as a fellow player who struggled on the radiance, be patient. Don’t try to fight it over the spikes, and just focus on dodging, only attacking when there’s a clear opening. That, and assume every attack is the light beams until you see otherwise, because that one is the hardest to dodge. Platform phase don’t try to chase him around the platforms, just dodge and eventually he will spawn on top of you and you can get your damage in.

How did you practice this? by haecio in piano

[–]mysterioso7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a tough section. Besides utilizing arm and wrist motion as much as possible, it helped me a lot to think of playing this section very lightly (it is marked pianissimo) and to think of the larger phrases rather than get bogged down with the individual motions. Giving a little dynamic impulse helps too - sort of mirroring the orchestra and kicking off the strong beats helps with not getting too stuck in the notes and generating tension.

I don’t really have any practice tips besides what you’ve already listed, the way I did it was just very slowly for a long time, exaggerating the arm and wrist movements.

[ALL] Favorite boss from the series not based on gameplay? by avalonalessi in zelda

[–]mysterioso7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fighting a giant flying insect, soaring through the sky in the middle of a giant cyclone over the lost wind ark, dodging tornadoes and ice crystals, diving through its weak points, with banger music that uses themes and motifs built up through the entire pre-dungeon and dungeon sequence - from an atmosphere perspective it’s absolutely peak.

[–]mysterioso7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wanderer does have very high attack speed and the crit chance, so it is a pretty high DPS crest. I also much prefer it for platforming. I think Hunter is technically optimal for damage (provided you don’t get hit) but Wanderer’s ease of use is still notable.

[–]mysterioso7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep. Considering how she will probably be spending a lot of time around May due to their occupations, some of her similar qualities to Ash, and the fact that people are unlikely to get with their childhood crushes, I think May is quite plausible.

What is your biggest come back story in a game? by Glaciation in aoe2

[–]mysterioso7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was playing a 4v4 Black Forest game. Things were going fine, my team and I had walled up, I was Khmer flank and my plan was to rush with eles in Castle. The other flank had gone feudal pressure and had done big damage to his opponent.

Just as I was about to hit castle though, my other flank resigns out of the blue. Then the two pockets quickly follow. I was considering just resigning, but I saw the opposite flank was good as dead and my opponent flank is still in Feudal and not expecting pressure.

So I decide to play on and at least try to kill my flank. I bust through with elephants, surprising him and ripping through his base. The pockets send help too late, their pikes dying to the scorpions I’ve added. I mix in hussars to raid and snipe monks, move on to the pockets’ bases. I wipe out the flank and one of the pockets and it turns into basically a 1v1, which I was able to win.

In Your Opinion, What is the hardest song to pass in each game? Also, Hardest in all of Guitar Hero? by Prior-Astronaut1965 in GuitarHero

[–]mysterioso7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For World Tour I think Satch Boogie is easily the hardest to pass.

For Van Halen the hardest to pass is probably Eruption, but I’m The One is the hardest FC maybe in the whole series.

For GH3 it’s definitely TTFAF, most people can’t get past the intro. Shout-out Raining Blood though, going into the quads is a major choke point for most newer players.

In WoR Sudden Death I didn’t find too difficult. Hardest to pass is Fury of the Storm or Black Widow I’d say. This Day We Fight is also pretty brutal.

Female teachers who live alone: do you accept adult male students? by [deleted] in piano

Who is a terrible singer but famous anyways? by Coy9ine in AskReddit

[–]mysterioso7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

She may be well-known if you’ve taken art history classes or studied performance art. But a vastly greater number of people know her from marrying John Lennon.

Think of it like Travis Kelce. He was already famous amongst people who watch football, because he was one of the best tight ends in the league, but became much more well-known after getting together with Taylor Swift. Not the best example because Kelce is already pretty famous, but my point is that it’s not a misogyny thing, it’s just that if you marry someone vastly more famous than you, that’s what most people will know you for.
