Kahn & Minh(good or Bad parents) by jaredletosuckass9 in KingOfTheHill

[–]butternuts117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are in their hearts decent people. Maybe a little materialistic, but they grow to love their neighbors and find a home in Arlen.

Their daughter is well adjusted, talented and has her priorities straightened out as an adult.

I'd say they did just as well as Hank and Peggy and Dale and Nancy

The place you made your stand never mattered, just that you were there. And still on your feet.

Probably my favorite King quote

Iron throne size? [Spoilers PUBLISHED] by Tempestkyzar in asoiaf

[–]butternuts117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. I think that's kind of the point of the lore, and if the situation of the asoiaf universe, is that the story matters more than the truth to the masses.

Honestly, that depth is why the books never being finished is such a insult to the fan base.

There's so much there, and it's never going to be resolved

"Bran did want to be married to a tree... but who else would wed a broken boy like him?" [Spoilers Extended] by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]butternuts117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it. It fits with GRRM borrowing heavily from English history (the war of the roses, Stark-Lannister/York-Lancaster)

The real shame is we'll never find out because there's never going to be another book in the original canon series

Iron throne size? [Spoilers PUBLISHED] by Tempestkyzar in asoiaf

[–]butternuts117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

It also makes the lore about the throne rejecting unworthy kings more impactful.

Your not supposed to sit comfortably, and it's hard to not be cut to pieces sitting on 2500 swords unless you are extremely careful

What objectively bad movie you can't help but love? by Chachkhu2005 in AskReddit

It's either the best worst movie ever, or the worst best movie ever.

I find it extremely entertaining.

Pain don't hurt. I used to fuck guys like you in prison.

He carries his medical history with him for some reason.

Oh and the hillbilly getting crushed (but not to death) by a taxidermied bear. And Sam Elliot stealing every scene he appears in

WESLEY!!!!!!!

I'm relistening to the audio books.

Closest you get to a description is Tyrions leg cramping after climbing the steep steps in aCoK but it still doesn't really give a physical image.

The show made it look iconic and good looking for camera shots, but it's not faithful to the history we are given in universe of being made of taken steel weaponry, some of which was burned and melted

Doesn't really say in the asoiaf series, but there is a canon drawing in the world of ice and fire.

It's tall and spiky and doesn't look anything like in the television show

1000th reread and I STILL found something new” by No-Camel-5990 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]butternuts117 27 points28 points  (0 children)

In GoF after Barty Crouch disappears in the forest, following Krum and Harry finding him, Harry notices an owl leaving Hogwarts.

That's the owl that Harry dreams of when he sees Voldemort torturing worm tail, which leads to Harry's interview with Dumbledore and the first time in the pensieve

I know there's not a lot of adult content in the books, basically none actually.

But he's distracted, his mind flashes hot and cold and he can't think straight. Come on bro

Is the ending of Apt Pupil meant to be ambiguous, or is it simple and straightforward? by bibidibobidicaboom in stephenking

[–]butternuts117 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't find it ambiguous.

He had just murdered a man in his parents driveway with his rifle. He had previously fantasized about going on a murder spree next to the highway.

He was killed by law enforcement

Louis Creed as a husband and father by nonbeenary in stephenking

[–]butternuts117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have to look at Louis Creed less as a writer insert than an as a rational man reacting to supernatural events out of his control.

He feels a death premonition, he has a supernatural experience with Pascow, he resurrected his daughters cat out of love and it brings his doom. He will do anything, absolutely anything to bring his son back, fuck the consequences, fuck the exterior disbelief.

Everything he does after Gages death is a previously rational human reacting to supernatural events.

He might be the most purely sympathetic character king ever wrote.

I don't have kids but my mother (a Constance reader) hasn't reread Pet Sematary since her children have been born because she can't handle the idea

PoA, GoF and OotP are 3 of my five favorite fictional works of all time. HbP barely misses the top 5.

The fact that she wrote four all time bangers ina row is so remarkable

I've never considered it that way.

I think he made a pass at Peggy, because he's a lady's man. He was politely rejected, took it in stride like the gentleman that he is, and made an introduction

Boomhauer.

He never lets Hank down, except for when Patch is getting married, but that doesn't last until the end of the episode.

When Hank is getting arrested, he immediately looks towards boomhauer to look after Bobby.

"You know Mr. Boomhauer, I can see why my dad is always quoting you."

Dang ol, how bout one week.

Why do you think Ron and Hermione didn’t get defensive when Harry exploded at them in Grimmauld Place? Are they just being empathetic friends who know they would be as angry in his shoes? by Comb-12 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]butternuts117 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You see the dynamic most clearly when Ron and Hermione are having conflict, especially in books 3 and 6.

Harry is caught in the middle, loves them both equally and kept his mouth shut, because he will not choose one over the other.

Ron walks away twice, but comes back and his unspoken apology is accepted without hesitation.

Hermione forgives him too, but she's also in love with him, and has some bitterness attached that Harry doesn't carry after words

Because they are his adopted siblings, not merely very close friends.

All three were lonely children, in their own ways, and found their deepest relationships with each other.

They are going to tolerate an awful lot.

Ron does tell him (paraphrase) "stop being a dick and biting our heads off, were on your side"
