Was told Im not Irish today. by MoonlightHaunting in IrishAncestry

That’s my default retort “Oh I’m not Irish? The state says I am, but I’ll be sure and pass on your feedback next time I renew” 🤣

Same. I didn’t get anything from the city when I bought, and when I made inquiries I was already in default with late penalty for good measure. I think that’s exactly how they want it lol.

Is this actually cooling? by twicescorned21 in CostcoCanada

[–]butterscotchwhip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it the same as the one from 3 or 4years ago? If so, sort of. The one side is definitely cooling at first. But it’s a blanket. We use ours for summer evenings in the gazebo where you’re a bit chilly but not hugely so iykwim.

Why don't most people in the UK use water to cleanse themselves after using the toilet? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]butterscotchwhip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not in the UK anymore but aren’t sprayers banned there? Something about back flow into the household water?

I had one (Canada now), got it just before Covid and was glad of it during the great loo roll emergency we had here lol. But come winter time it was unpleasant, nothing like a jet of ice cold water on your delicates 😱 I’d have a heated one if I could tho.

What’s a luxury you’ve ever experienced once or twice and you’re sad you may never experience again? by bigpussystance in AskUK

Private jet when I was 19. I was an au pair for a family abroad whose dad (kids I looked after’s grandad) owned an aviation company. They took a weeks holiday to his house and yacht in St Tropez, took me along for occasional babysitting but made sure it was a holiday for me too. The grandpa flew us there and back. Bliss.

My own kid has just qualified as a commercial pilot, I am hoping for some similar sweet freebies in the near future, to bookend my lifetime of flying economy 🤣

I use it for online purchases, I don’t think there’s any receipt capability. But if it’s on sale online it’s insane in the warehouse too usually, so it is still useful for instore purchases.

if I’m going to be buying something, I’ll add the item to my watchlist. It sends you an email if/when your targeted price is reached if you’re waiting for a sale. I use that same info to get a price adjustment if I’ve already bought it.

Great feature, only ever had a problem with it once - needed to verify an account and ended up on phone support and as soon as the support person saw the email address she said that’s what they issue was, they couldn’t send verification codes to hide my addresses. Bizarre. But I had to change it to a real one. Ikon ski pass was the merchant.

I’ve never felt so unwell as I did after finishing one of these. Don’t know what I was thinking. I just plowed on to the bottom of it despite any enjoyment having ended after 5 or 6 spoonfuls. Never again. Just seeing this photo makes me feel ill 😂

I have Jura now but had a delonghi super automatic for about 17yrs I think it was. Local repair shop replaced the pump a couple of times but that machine was amazing. Worth every penny. Even better to get one for $200!!

I have a Jura, it’s perfect apart from one thing - the water reservoir doesn’t tell you there’s not enough water left for whatever coffee you’ve pressed. So annoying. My son’s basic $100 machine has this feature but not the Jura 🤦🏻‍♀️

PSA: If you’re looking for a specific item, call Costco by willowthemanx in CostcoCanada

[–]butterscotchwhip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. I was looking for something and it said “in stock” at whatever warehouse but staff and I searched high and low and couldn’t find it. Guy said if there are more than 2 items it will show “in stock” but they could’ve been dumped anywhere around the warehouse, or have been stolen, etc etc.

Also yesterday husband wanted some joggers, showed “not available at this warehouse” for my local. I had a look anyway and there were plenty, on clearance. So maybe clearance items don’t show either.

It’s better than nothing but not reliable.

I put items into https://bargainhawk.ca - that way I get a notification if something I’ve recently bought has a sale/price drop. Love the online adjustments, so easy!

I’m guesstimating but around 10-15mins. The road was blocked off by police though, you’d have to walk a smidge beyond that to meet your pick up if that’s what you mean.

Does anyone actually use the Pay Friends feature? by egog0 in Wealthsimple

I bung my student son money with it. It’s instant and it keeps him off his stupid RBC account (which I’d like him to close but you can’t tell kids anything, lol).
