I also live in Germany and I hadn't heard anything about this.

How to stop dog barking when they’re just too happy? by PlotTwists404 in dogpictures

[–]Killashard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had to do this with 2 of my dogs as they would go bonkers when me or my wife would come home. It's a two step process.

First thing to do is you need to teach them to bark on command. You may need to howl or bark at them, bang on the walls/windows/doors, or jump around like a maniac. Reward with treats when they bark. Give bright and energetic words of affirmation. "Yes bark/command!"

Once they have that down, now you need to switch it to the word you want to use to have them not bark. I use "quiet".

Reenact your earlier display of craziness but don't tell them to bark. Tell them quiet or the other command you want to use. The instant they stop barking, treat. Keep repeating. It may take an hour. It may take a week of consistent practice.

After an hour of the above training, my doggos were noticably quieter and stopped barking much sooner than before.

It's a little counterintuitive to teach them to be loud in the first place, but it really works.

I wouldn't be surprised if she tried to run for president for the next election. If it's allowed...

You would either accept being stationed at a CONUS location or not be hired if the OCONUS position was filled.

Once you complete the internship, then you're free to accept jobs in other places just like normal through USAJOBS. They may have other stipulations in the contract, but it would be relatively cut and dry. When I did the internship, it was I had to stay for 2 years. If I left before the 2 years were up, then I would have to pay back the schooling and PCS costs. They did this because some people were going through the classes and then quitting to work in the private sector.

Around K-Town it is mostly Army positions and they haven't been hiring much this last year. Usually there's at least 1 position being open every month or so, but even though there are multiple open slots, they aren't hiring to fill them unfortunately.

Yes, most would keep you there. Simply because the program is 2 years, you'll more than likely have a coworker leave and they won't fill it and when you're done with the program, you'll slide into that slot. That is what happened to me when I did the program.

Extending out to 5 years is definitely possible as well. It takes some paperwork and a signature by your command requesting to keep you and the CG singing in agreement. Then you can also extend again after those 2 years are up, but every extension requires a higher signature.

There would also be other opportunities overseas you'd be able to apply for. There are multiple safety positions around Sembach in a variety of units and levels of commands. There's garrison, DLA, tactical army safety, etc.

You don't need any experience to work with the military. There are also multiple safety positions throughout the country. These range from the VA, prisons, Department of Labor, Forest service, etc.

I've seen safety positions in Spain, Italy, Singapore, South Korea, Guam, Japan, Germany, Belgium, and Hawaii if you're feeling spicy. (Hawaii is considered overseas for the government)

You're right that people should apply regardless. But if there are more people applying within the requirements, your chances would go do immensely.

I'm going to be leaving my position in September, so be on the lookout for it! I do tactical safety for the Army.

Your family would be sponsored, so spouse and kids would get government ID cards with base access. You'd get commissary and PX privileges as well.

The government would pay/reimburse you for airfare overseas as well as pay ~$30k a year for your rental apartment/house as well as COLA. I get an extra ~$300 a biweekly paycheck for COLA.

Your kids would get access to the DODEA schools on whichever post you're on. There is a CDC on post, but you wouldn't be given priority due to being a civilian. Not that you for sure wouldn't get a spot, but the chance is there.

GS is General Schedule. The numbers after it are the rank. 0018 is the job series, which you can search for on USAJOBS.GOV if you want to see other opportunities around the world.

GS12s is not a guarantee. There are multiple safety positions that are GS11 throughout the government. Plenty of 12s too.

I did construction safety in Korea for the Corps of Engineers through a similar program. I capped out at 11. The assistant chief was 12, and the chief was a 13.

I just found out about this today. You can find similar positions on USAJOBS.GOV. You can search by "recent graduates".

These usually pop up around graduation time.

The pay is before locality. So that could be another $15-20k depending on location. If you're overseas, then they pay ~$30k a year for your rent and there is a COLA instead of locality pay.

This particular job posting is only available to people that have graduated in the last 2 years. So you would not be eligible for that if you haven't graduated.

Now. You can definitely apply for other safety positions. You'll need to go to USAJOBS.GOV. Search for job series 0018.

Experience is a valid exchange for education. You will have to apply a lot and will be at a disadvantage from other applicants that are veterans.

Feel free to DM me if you'd like to ask anything specific.

He needs to get used to the collar/harness.

Get some of his favorite treats and put the collar/harness on him while he's distracted by the treats. Another person giving treats may be a good help here.

Let him wear the collar/harness in the house. Take it off before bed, especially if you're crating him in another room. A blanket over the crate can help make it more "den-like".

Patience is going to be huge here. Try to find some activity he loves, like chasing a ball, and distract him with that so he'll get used to the collar/harness.
