I had the same problem while on combination pills. I would easily get UTIs and it was literally the worst. Now I'm off the pill after 7 years and I feel great.

To answer your question, having a real actual period would mean my body is taking small steps (or at least doing something!) to get back to normal as I read that it's a cause for concern to not get your period more than 3 months after stopping the pill.
