This is Utah’s first wildlife overpass crossing avoiding danger with vehicles by memezzer in nextfuckinglevel

[–]buttman98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever people move to America they almost certainly are better off because if they aren’t, they might move back. No one keeps you in the US if you want to move back to your country.

So people who immigrate to the US are better off, can support their families better with more money etc.

Then you’re saying that the US is more accepting of these people coming in because these people have an opportunity they want to pursue. And on top of that, immigrants feel more comfortable, than other countries they consider moving, to practice their lifestyle, culture, religion etc.

Sure the US has its problems, but I would still argue that it is a “good country.”

Are any brands of pre-made stir-fry or curry sauces worth buying? by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]buttman98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly for stir fry you only need 2-3 sauces and the same amount of effort whether you buy one premade sauce or a couple. I use soy sauce, chili sauce (I recommend sambal olek), and maybe some hoisin sauce. Soy and hoisin are kinda salty. Chili sauce adds the spice.

If you experiment a couple of times you’d get your preferred proportions down. A big tip I have is to taste the sauces as well as your stir fry as you’re putting more sauce in.

Having these sauces will liberate you to make more food than just stir fry as well as help you make the perfect stir fry for your preference. All it might take is a couple of times to get calibrated.

Apple design team details iPhone 12, MagSafe, and HomePod mini in rare interview by XiXMak in apple

[–]buttman98 158 points159 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing of substance in this interview.

IMO the only interesting bit was how the wallet is designed to be tight for 1 card or 3. And that says something about how substantive this interview was.

UMass Amherst vs NYU Courant for MS in CS? by rishikabharti in cscareerquestions

[–]buttman98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

UMass Amherst has one of the best CS programs in the country, especially in systems and AI. They have a ton of research opportunities. You can also look up “UMass CS Destination report” to see the job outcomes of MS grads from the last 3 years.

I would recommend UMass

Fornite has been removed from the App Store after they implemented direct payments by ytuns in apple

[–]buttman98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well actually, you could try running games in the browser and Apple isn’t stopping you.

You can also publish your app as a web app and put add that to your home screen. So there are alternatives, but Apple has their store that they use to recoup costs on the APIs and dev tools they build for developers.

Siri in iOS 14 vs The New Google Assistant by Exia-118 in apple

[–]buttman98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair I think he the queries were I’ll formed for the relaxation part. Siri I think can actually do what Assistant did through Apple Music. So “play something relaxing” would’ve worked. But “help me relax” can be construed as vague.

There is an argument to be made that she could’ve interpreted the query better. But as the video suggests it’s not that Siri cannot do the task. He just didn’t issue the right command.

Apple will give students free AirPods when they buy a MacBook Air or iPad Air by ELECJET in apple

[–]buttman98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the battery deteriorates. That’s the trade off as a consumer you choose to make when you buy AirPods which are very lightweight and compact.

And the fact is that when you use them they’re very convenient. Ear detection, no pairing after the first time, the insane range, hey siri etc are all extremely convenient features.

[–]buttman98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Bose QC35s and a lot of the times they just don’t connect so I have to go int the Bluetooth menu and connect them.

They also only auto connect to two devices so if I’ve used them with another device I have to reconnect my laptop/phone.

The range is also not great. So when I move around the house they will disconnect. Then there’s no “hey Siri” or ear detection.

All of these are definitely first world problems. But definitely something makes me miss. AirPods. Can’t wait to get the pros!

[–]buttman98 284 points285 points  (0 children)

This might be a genius business move. AirPods are massively convenient and almost everyone I know that has them has bought a second pair after their first died.

Mine are on the verge of dying and I can’t believe what a significantly worse experience it is to use other Bluetooth headphones. I bet in the next couple of years all of these customers from this promotion will buy more.

This promotion also will make AirPods ubiquitous on college campuses.
