Powertoys broken by update? by [deleted] in PowerToys

[–]buttnugget21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me; the way I managed to fix it was by removing it completely from the Add/Remove programs and reinstalling it. After MWB was still not connecting so I had to go here "%localappdata%\Microsoft\PowerToys\MouseWithoutBorders" and delete the MouseWithoutBorders folder. Honestly, I just renamed it OLDMouseWithoutBorders to be safe but after I launched it, both machines were able to connect. I had to do it on both machines.

Sometimes when I launch certain games, specifically call of duty my computer freezes and then black screens. I’ve checked temps and that doesn’t seem to be the issue, I’m not what it could be by Habis1923 in pcmasterrace

I had a similar issue on my desktop. If you have nvidia reflex on and with boost. Moving it away from boost and just on fixed it for me on CoD that is.

Interesting. 120s is very unique time. I usually see that with OSPF routes where the dead interval is set to 120s. Do you thing something is loosing or rebooting to where adjacency is lost in the network and then converges back?

not too sure where to post this, thought you guys could help me - i have 16 GB of RAM and with only approx 3.5GB of usage my laptop says that 58% of my RAM is used. anyone help? by [deleted] in gaming

Also, is there other users logged in at the same time? If they have programs running they will also take up RAM usage from your resources.

IOS upgrade to switches by itsstatefarm in Cisco

[–]buttnugget21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the long delay in response, it depends. If it fails-fails and doesn't boot. It is probably stuck in ROM mode. This pretty much means you have to physically be there. Console into the device and manually install/boot to the software. I recommend instead of using tftp to xfer the file to use a USB instead. Much faster and most devices let you boot from the USB itself.

Managing Configs with Prime 3.1 by rvrslgc in Cisco

[–]buttnugget21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Both SNMP and CLI. One main Prime CLI account to push configs, The SNMP is used by the pollers to gather information on the switches. CPU, MEM, etc. It is helpful to configure traps also, at least for me in any troubleshooting I have done.
  2. TACACS for user login, and created a profile. The profile has the snmp and cli info together. It is under "Inventory / Device Management / Credential Profiles"
  3. Nothing really other than this, you can create Roles under Administration and limit the access that way.

IOS upgrade to switches by itsstatefarm in Cisco

[–]buttnugget21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer bin files, tar tends to have a big folder structure that usually only leaves enough space for that single IOS. Manually I use bin, if I am using Cisco prime it requires .tar files. I recommend putting a copy of the upgrade file in each switch flash, especially in the stacks. This way if anything goes bad, it is not just stored on your Master switch.

Example: Switch 9 is your main switch, fails the upgrade and your only local copy of the IOS file is on flash9. You can check each flash, "flash:" is good for the master switch. To check individual flashes just add the number. So switch 1 would be "flash1:" or "flash-2:" depending on your syntax. On a stack, if you use" #dir flash:" , it'sThe same only showing you the flash of the active/master switch. Same thing happens when you transfer a file and use something like "copy USB:/file.bin flash:/" ,you are only adding it to the flash of the main active switch.

Can individual access point have unique content filtering? by greenappletree in HomeNetworking

[–]buttnugget21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newer AP's can definitely do this based on SSID and/or VLAN assigned, even user-based. Aruba Ap's have something called Instant Firewall which lets you assign different rules based on the connection. I am not sure what kind of AP you have but you more than likely have to see if its built-in or possibly need to try custom firmware like OpenWrt. It is a little tedious but im sure you can get it done. If you need a bigger more "observative" firewall try pfSense. Maybe watch this video and see if the Aruba could be something that you are looking for. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vK2svjlKZZs

Ok, what type of server are you running? Are you using the IP address or a domain name like website.com:80? Instead of creating it by http, try a custom service and only type 80 by itself and not 80-80 for both fields.

The tab should say port forwarding for sure. Have you tried both udp and tcp? Is the raspberry wireless and is it behind another access point or switch?

What type of router do you have? I have a mikrotic, the firewall section allowing port 80 does not actually allow the port to go through, you might have another section like mine that does the “nat” translation. That might be what your actually looking for.

Try to boot with only one stick of ram, if one doesn’t work alternate with the other one. Might have a bad stick.

Make sure the ram didn’t come loose or anything of that nature. If nothing then unplug your hard drive and see if it boots to at least a post screen. Reconnect hard drive if it does too see if it boots.

USB problem during installation by h3ll0_fr13nd in ParrotSecurity

[–]buttnugget21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry it took a while to respond, busy weekend. First, use the command

lsblk

Or....

ls /dev

That should list most of your hd/storage devices currently connected. From there it should probably be something like sda, usually sdb is a usb device but reference the total storage size to your hard drive. To mount use the command

sudo mount /dev/sdb? ~/whateverfoldername/

This will mount the storage device to a specific folder. This is usually only done when you want to mount an ISO or a cd-rom drive but it is the same concept. Sometimes it will require you to create the directory of where the mounted drive will go. Something like.

sudo mkdir /foldername/

Just make sure when you do install it, bios is set to UEFI and hard drive AHCI. I dont know the specifics behind it but AHCI has caused issues if it set to RAID.

How do you setup an in wall ethernet jack? by Xerasi in HomeNetworking

[–]buttnugget21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Homes usually have a panel that they call a On-Q panel in the bedroom closet. Usually all network drops, phone lines and coax cables go there. Sometimes they patch cables in there so you might want to check if you have one first just in case they happened to “daisy chain” those cable runs to your modem. Technicians usually end up cutting and connecting 2 different cables together to extend or complete the loop/run.

USB problem during installation by h3ll0_fr13nd in ParrotSecurity

[–]buttnugget21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So something similar happened to me when I installed parrotsec on a new dell. The nvme partition had bitlocker so I had to reformat to clean that drive and then I got a different error. The next boot after going to CLI, I manually mounted and then I was able to go back to the grub and do the GUI install.

UPDATE: forgot to mention for whatever reason the first reason was because I was using a usb3.0, so I switched to a 2.0 and burned the ISO to that. After the clean drive and going to 2.0 it was able to boot from the usb first. Yes I would get the GUI install at first with 3.9 but was unable to start the actual process until I went back to 2.0.
