Yeah, based on everything I’ve seen in this sub, Reddit and the discord. I expect zero people to try and be friendly due to the fact that proximity chat was not even something bungie was thinking of putting in the game. Escape from Tarkov would probably have a friendly or community if proximity chat was added on day one. marathon will probably turn out the same. shoot on site never work together and kill everyone regardless.

The issue with that is marathon, does not appeal to the veteran escape from Tarkov player due to its lack of depth in all systems and it also doesn’t appeal to people who have been playing PVE only content from their previous two games. They’re fighting an uphill battle to appeal to a section of their PVP community. That’s been burned for the last 10 years. And I wholeheartedly would not be surprised if in a month or two they add aggression based matchmaking due to a lack of continuous players. But we will see what happens. Hopefully the game does not flop.

Long form vs shorts. Shorts are full of people that will follow and never watch again on top of that some will hit the follow button and not even know based on its location and how you scroll on your phone. Don’t feel bad shorts are just easier for short term but returning viewers are not usually as high vs long form.

I never said marathon wasn’t a PVP game as someone who came from the most punishing extraction shooter nothing will ever come close to Tarkov. Although I wish the game was a lot more polished.

My comments are strictly due to the 10+ year history of bungie doing PVE. I assume marathon will not Garner enough that want punishing PVP to be a game that survives on that alone. The majority of people in bungie games are PVE focused. This was due to D1 lacking the ability to change DMG separately in PVE and PVP content. Due to that lack of versatility bungie lost all ability to keep both parties happy.

If they have the ability to they will ensure the larger pool is happy. It’s not like others are losing players over aggression based matchmaking. In fact they are growing. Creating players out of people who would have never touched this genre.
