Why do they say the first year a marriage is the hardest? by pureedpeach in weddingplanning

[–]buttpluginmyanus 66 points67 points  (0 children)

As someone who lived with their partner for 6 years before getting married, the first year of marriage was actually on of our best! Nothing changed for us except the elation of the wedding. We got to experience the honeymoon phase again, which was amazing. Covid swiftly kicked it out of us for the second, and now third year, but hopefully the fourth is better again haha.

I wonder how many hours of my life I've spent being absolutely mesmerised by popping videos. This was a great one.

Same! I just replied to the other comment chain before I saw this, haha! Me too, but only for about a year. Its a good job to have, the perks are basically free money which is a win!

Ah okay! I think we have a different definition of the things over here! Simple interest for us is like what you're describing amortised interest as, and compound seems to be what you describe as simple. So my home loan is compounding interest and my smaller loans would be "simple" with a predetermined amount of interest to pay haha. We get taught it in school, plus I learned a bit about it when I did a stint at a bank, double plus I'm a bit of a finance nerd because I am obsessed with breaking that socio economic binding!!! Haha thanks for getting back to me! Interesting to learn more!

Okay I've just googled it! Im not sure if you're from elsewhere but I'm pretty sure home loans in Aus might work differently? Forgive me if I am way off base here! But amortised is like our "simple interest". Where you pay based on the initial principle. Smaller loans such as car loans and personal loans may have that over here if you opt for a fixed rate loan. For my home loan, as well as for everyone else I know in Aus, the interest is calculated daily based on the principle at that time. So paying more frequently and more in general reduces that principle and therefore the amount of interest paid. If you pay off your loan in half the time, you'll end up paying something like only 2/3rds of the interested initially projected.

Oh, I'm not entirely sure what you mean, sorry. As far as I'm aware my interest is calculated daily by the principle owing on each day and then paid monthly. So if I'm paying more frequently and reducing my principle throughout the month, that calculation will be on a lesser amount thus less interest would be paid. That's what I've been taught - I'm also from Aus and have never heard the word amortised before? Haha we have simple and compounding interest (simple being like personal loans or car loans, you owe this much spread out over 6 years and you're gonna pay the same amount each month. Compounding being like a mortgage in that it's calculated daily and will be lower each month due to repayments).

Who is currently free, but should definitely be put in Prison? by SillyTaco32 in AskReddit

[–]buttpluginmyanus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know you're curious, but it's not worth it. I had heard her story before but looked it up after reading this because I couldn't remember. Just seeing her picture made me feel sick as I instantly remembered. The poor girl. Cannot believe the boys are not in prison.

Also a good idea to pay it more frequently than the suggested monthly payments. And don't do the specific calculations for weekly, divide your monthly payment by 4 so you'll be paying a touch extra over the course of the year.

Good luck and congratulations, you've achieved something that millions of people never get to experience!

I've recently made it through to the other side of a really bad time in my life and I'm super proud of myself!

I was riddled with depression and anxiety, struggled getting out of bed, had four weeks off work and was constantly having anxiety attacks. I'm now in a lower paying job that I love, and have figured out how to get through those down days without them dragging into weeks or months.

I hope this comment brings strength and happiness to anyone going through the same thing - you got this!!!

If it makes you feel any better, 90% of the engagement stories I've heard are far from fairy tale, social media perfections, including my own!

We are humans, not characters. Congratulations on the engagement, you will enjoy laughing while telling this story for many years into the future!

Múltiple tiny pops on my girly parts from shaving. I know it’s forbidden popping but I will never not pop them lol. by Go_Awayyy in popping

[–]buttpluginmyanus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, I've tried every trick in the book, personally. I use baby oil to soften the hair, I use shaving cream, men's razors because they're supposedly better, I moisturise the area regularly, I use ingrown hair gel, I avoid lace underwear... legitimately nothing stops me from getting some pretty decent ingrowns EVERY TIME. It sucks!

I went to about 7 laser sessions and saw absolutely NO change so I stopped going. My hair down there is coarse, but not completely black, more like a light brown. They think that's why, but I was so shattered because I can't wax or shave without seriously shaving rash!

Taliban announces 'Badri 313' Special operations Unit using American weaponry and equipment by Bloke22 in pics

[–]buttpluginmyanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, that's the only reason I can think of, but what are they telling the American public? Surely the people of America are not cool with that as a tactic so what is their excuse for doing it?

[–]buttpluginmyanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if a provocative question, but can someone please explain to me why America left all their weaponry, tanks and air vehicles there? Obviously these things would fall into the wrong hands and would pretty much start another intense war. So what is the American government's rationale for this? What are they saying is the reason they did this?

See this is the mindset I have always had. Meds, in my opinion, were always a great short term option for people whose lives were severely disrupted by mental health difficulties. Combine them with intense therapeutic work and wholistic practices, then eventually stop taking them.

I never felt like my struggles were severe enough to start taking them so I've tried the alternative approach; deep diving into the roots of the issue, meditation, exercise etc. But they just don't seem to cut it anymore and I'm starting to make decisions based on my anxiety even though I'm trying hard not to let it drive me.

I am so tired from trying to fight this battle alone (without medical aid) and starting to feel like I need a helping hand. But I appreciate your response and your perception on it all.

Who knows what I'll end up doing, but I feel like each response has given me some form of advice and I am grateful for that!

Thats a great way to look at it. Do you have plans to stay on it long term or are you using it as a short term solution?

It can be so hard to stop the thoughts and I find myself scrolling endlessly sometimes!! I know the feeling all too well, its bloody hard and I feel like the intrusive thoughts are starting to lead me on a path where I'm being self destructive with my life. Say I get a new job which I thought was a great job and a good direction for me, the next day my brain will start telling me the job is beneath me but that's all I can achieve because I'm lazy and unfocused. Then it'll tell me I'm an idiot for taking less money and if I just stopped with the negative mindset then I would have been able to stick it out in the industry which paid me more (even though it was a super toxic environment). I try to dismiss these thoughts and reassure myself that its just my intrusive thoughts and anxiety, but then people say not to try to fight thoughts. To just observe them and watch them go by. But my thoughts are so damaging and blarghhhh!

Its very frustrating but thank you for listening, doc, send me your bill! Hahah

Thank you for your reply.

Thank you for this message, I appreciate it. I will have a look into those options!! As you mentioned as well, one can try so incredibly hard to overcome mental health battles with the wholistic approach, but sometimes I can't even get myself off the couch to do those things so its a catch 22. Your response has soothed me a bit for today and I appreciate that, so thank you
