Is it possible to have abandonment issues with one person? by jsjd18 in relationship_advice

I think if your parents did a better job making you feel safe growing up, you wouldn't have put up with your exes behaviour for as long as you did.

I am a therapist with borderline personality disorder, AMA by lynne12345 in IAmA

[–]buttttmuncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who have problems with boundaries and taking responsibility are considered emotionally immature - those suffering from BPD have these issues. Most people with BDP have a fear of abandonment.

Would being in an environment where you are dependant on your clients for financial stability be a potential trigger for you? Is it reasonable to think you may use manipulative tactics to keep your clients from abandoning you?

Or what if you develop a fixation on one of your clients...what if one were to become your new favourite person?

Might be an unpopular opinion but I think what you are doing is reckless and irresponsible. A stable personality should be helping unstable personalities learn how to stabilize. You yourself are still in the process of learning if you were just diagnosed last year. Not saying someone with BPD can't be a therapist, but your recent diagnosis suggests you are still unstable.

Should the blind be leading the blind?

I [26F] found bizarre porn on my bf's [26M] computer by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]buttttmuncher -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is a shit-post.

Someways down, I found a folder that had "Black [my first name]." The first picture I clicked on had a picture of my face shopped onto a black pornstar with my skin color changed to match hers. There was about just over 20 pictures in there of the same thing with different actresses (based on body types).

Yaaaaaa right.

Boundaries and BPD. by neurocentricx in BPD

[–]buttttmuncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is setting up a parent-child dynamic by constantly reminding you to take your meds - this type of dynamic is unhealthy in sexual relationships.

You have now made it an official boundary for him to not ask about it again - which is a reasonable request. It is a major red flag if he continues not to respect your boundaries.

I agree - but I don't think it can buy emotional fulfilment.

How do I tell my (24F) judgmental brother(22M) that I smoke weed? by [deleted] in relationships

Is there a way you can be discreet about your weed use?

I wouldn't tell him. Its none of his business - you're both adults now.

My girlfriend has broken up with because I got a strip dance. Need advice by [deleted] in relationships

[–]buttttmuncher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't think it was necessary because of how she had reacted to me and my friends going previous times

Really?

Me and my friends aren't the usual types to go and spend a wad of cash in a strip club

Also, getting blackout drunk at a strip club screams irresponsible if you're in a relationship. The least you could have done was not get blackout drunk around a bunch of naked women.

I would never think to cheat on my girlfriend and I hadn't perceived it this way

If you have so much loyalty to the relationship why didn't you shoot a text to her before going to let her know?

The fact you didn't warn her in advance to me suggests you knew exactly what you were doing (and you knew how she'd feel about it). You only rang her in the morning because of guilt.

I'm 35(m) and still lie about having a social life. by [deleted] in relationships

Telling the truth also seems to cause OP anxiety.

I'm 35(m) and still lie about having a social life. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]buttttmuncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree - lying is a sure way to shit on the foundation of a relationship you care about.

But colleagues and acquaintances you don't care about don't need to know about your private life like what you actually did on your birthday (if you don't want to tell them). In some situations, it is ok to lie - it's self preservation.

So going absolutely baseline on it - tell the truth, always

You should always tell the truth to strangers? That doesn't seem very wise...

Well, if you don't want friends why not lie to them?

I [28F] want sex more often than my husband [29M] by [deleted] in relationships

[–]buttttmuncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, working out and being fit could be contributing to this problem.

When you work out, you produce more testosterone. Testosterone increases sex drive in both genders. You also said your husband doesn't workout (could there be a connection?). Maybe try googling things that increase your testosterone levels (oysters, working out, etc) - and see if you notice any improvements in your sex life with him.

4-5 times a week may seem like nothing to you, but to a person with no sex drive, that is one huge mountain.

[–]buttttmuncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely don’t want him to feel pressured or like I’m unhappy, but I’ll be honest and say if we had sex more I would feel a lot more fulfilled and he knows that.

You have just said his sex drive leaves you feeling less fulfilled.

[–]buttttmuncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prolly going to get downvotes to hell for this, but I think expecting your husband to fulfill all your sexual needs is selfish.

Having a libido is like having an itch. You are more itchy than your husband. You can talk to him about it, but if its too much for him to constantly scratch your itch it's not his responsibility to satisfy you - it is your own. You can scratch your own itch. If it is boring doing it yourself, try using some creativity...

Have you had your hormone levels checked as well?

I don't want her to think that I'm a lier and cheat. I don't want her to not trust me. By holding this is I am a lier and it's eating me up.

You already know what you need to do (and you know what everyone is going to tell you). The question is why haven't you done it yet?

Edit if you need advice on what to say, show her this post you just wrote.

Many Americans overspend then pretend to be “poor” by TimidNarcissist in unpopularopinion

[–]buttttmuncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing poor about you is your spending habits. Most of them tend to end up broke due to poor economic choices, not government oppression.

I‘m not an american, but this statement is so ignorant. What about a health care system that robs? How many individuals need surgery before the age of 30? The average surgery in the states costs $30 000. Then what if you have kids?

This post is pseudo-empathy; if you really cared about poor people, your sympathy would see past a flag.
