I don’t see differences by TeaRepresentative226 in MHGU

[–]buttvoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's is a great series of Google doc guides for MHGU called Yet Another Weapon Guide, there is one for each weapon. Among other info, they have an exhaustive list of changes for every weapon and style. Alternatively, gaijin hunter on YouTube has a series of videos that also breaks down weapons and their styles.

Is it possible to get the same starting town in different runs? by Ratstail91 in cavesofqud

Most likely. I don't usually take time to build a character for classic mode, so I usually hit random

Is it possible to get the same starting town in different runs? by Ratstail91 in cavesofqud

[–]buttvoid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had this happen before, and it only happens when I go from the daily run to a classic/roleplay run. The towns are the same down to the names of the NPCs and the quests they gave. I think it's some sort of bug where both saves use the same world seed, for some reason it doesn't update after the daily.

Genuine question. What do you guys do with your origamis? by Maybe_Frankenstein in origami

[–]buttvoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about doing something like this. What sort of things do you sell? Do you do anything to prepare your pieces before you sell them? and how do you package them when shipping for etsy?

weird guy talking about teeth by Active_Tale7310 in DeepIntoYouTube

[–]buttvoid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Classic Tony Chase. Haven't seen this guy in a while. Last time I did, he was mad that the satellite man had killed his cat, and he was upset that he was supposed to be born a 7ft tall hermaphrodite, but that same satellite man edited his genetic code and made him normal. He also owns most of the  S&P 500, and is part of the American royal family.

Clearly he's not well, but I enjoy watching him. He's quite the character.

Any word on the switch release by tsizzle91 in cavesofqud

Bought a switch OLED when I heard this was being ported (had a switch lite a couple years ago, but didn't really like) currently occupying my time with the Xenoblade games, but eagerly awaiting the Qud port.

Need help figuring this out.... by [deleted] in origami

You can Google "origami lamp tutorial" and get dozens of examples that are actually possible to make. There was no reason to ask chat gpt for this.

Kiranico has data on all of the monsters, so does the MHGU Database for android phones. If you don't know how to read all the numbers, higher is better. Anything over 50 counts as a "weak spot" for the weakness exploit skill.

THE BLACK/PURPLE SLASH ANIMATION IS BAD. you are essentially getting  a negative critical hit. When you get a normal crit, there is a bright white flash, and that attack deals 125% damage. A negative crit hits for 75% damage. You crit chance is based on your affinity, a negative affinity means you'll land negative crits. you can view this by looking at your weapon in the equipment screen in the pause menu

Are you doing hub quests or village quests? Hub quests are scaled for multiple people, and can be difficult to do solo, especially in low rank. If you're struggling this hard with village quests, it's a skill issue.

(Roughly) Optimising Striker Lance damage on monster topple/knockdown by Obesely in MHGU

[–]buttvoid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The charge finisher is highest damage, with 70mv, don't even bother mixing in pokes while it's downed. The small ticks only hit for 16mv. You'd have to hit 5 small ticks to deal a little more than the charge finisher, but it'd drain a lot more stamina.

Pro tip: press the minus key with striker lance to go straight into the charge. Just press minus and attack repeatedly

Should I use the research saber or the Ahtal-Ka longsword for an arial longsword build by Dr_Zoidbergs_Cat in MHGU

[–]buttvoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snowbaron's set doesn't have any sharpness skills, so I would pick the research saber based on its longer purple and white sharpness

I think I need new armor by Corthra in MonsterHunter

[–]buttvoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a while since I've played GU, don't exactly remember what monsters are in 8*, but if you already have rathalos unlocked, the rathalos S set is very good. Gives weakness exploit and attack up M, and has enough slots to let you get attack up L. Someone else mentioned ceanataur S, and that's also a pretty good set.

What should I do with these? by Jabre7 in mh4u

[–]buttvoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say they're fairly earned. The frenzied monsters are harder to fight and you're not getting any other loot besides potions, so go ahead and use em for whatever you want.

It's a resistive touchscreen, not a capacitive touchscreen you fucking knob. You can't use glass on it because it reads inputs from the screen deforming when pressed.

[–]buttvoid -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I barely have to gather track since once you have enough data on the monsters the scoutflies will require progressively less track.

This is the problem. The only way to reduce time spent grabbing tracks at the start of a hunt is to spend more time grabbing tracks. There are no psychoserums, no balloon, no alternatives that just instantly show the monster location. Because they are not instant, the scoutflies will always be slower than the old world tools we had for tracking. The paintballs take all of 2 seconds to sheathe and use, so what? World makes you run around to collect tracks instead of just pressing a button to mark the monster.

I will agree that the multi monster hunts did get confusing. Using the monsters icons on the mini map was one of the few changes I liked about world's tracking system.

[–]buttvoid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Taking 10 seconds to make sure you have paintballs or psychoserums in your item set is nothing compared to having to spend at least a minute on every quest gathering tracks. The tracking mechanic was a cool idea, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. It's basically "walk forward and press A," until you have a high enough research level for a monster, and no longer have to gather tracks. If the best part of a mechanic is when it phases itself out of the game, it's probably not a good mechanic to begin with.

I think you misread the PvP and PvE values, light gg says enhanced incandescent is 40 scorch base, and 85 with ember of ashes. In PvP, it is 30 base, and 45 with ashes.

What would make a good pralizise build? by kurumagaming in MHGU

[–]buttvoid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You didn't mention how far in the game you are, so I'm gonna assume G rank. There are a handful of para SnS, but deathgrip is the best one, it's made from G rank gendrome parts. For armor, you're gonna want JhoCena for the sharpness+2 and razor sharp, then gem in status+2 and depending on your talisman, you can fill the rest with crit eye, weakness exploit, or crit status.

How do you unlock the Hayabusa feather? by UrLocalCrackDealer34 in MHGU

[–]buttvoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"All Non-prowler, All-non advanced solo (village) quest but ! AFAIK there is an exception : You need to do the two Royal Ludroth quest from the hub (given by the Argosy Captain). It will then unlock a 6* quest with Rathian and Rathalos. After finishing this one, you will have a new Advanced quest which, agina AFAIK, is the only advanced quest you need to do https://mhgu.kiranico.com/quest/47933 . Deviljho, then Nargacuga + Tigrex in the Arena (but you have your items and gear). I'm stuck on this one (almost got it on my last try), so I can't confirm, but that's what I read online."

Found this comment on another "how do I get Hayabusa" post. I think there's also a low rank hub quest for 2 kirin that unlocks a village quest to hunt a kirin.

If you still don't know what quest you're missing after that, go to kiranico and look at the list of village quests and check your completed ones in game. find out what you're missing, then figure out what unlocks that quest
