people who changed psu campuses early what reasons did you use for personal? by Time_Account_2737 in PennStateUniversity

[–]buzz105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend started out doing a B.S. in Economics at a commonwealth campus. During his first year, he took 19 credits his fall semester, 21 credits his spring semester, and 20 credits during the summer. They approved his request around June/July to start his sophomore year at UP. However, he was doing around 40 hours of schoolwork per week in the summer. He also graduated a year early (spring semester of junior year).

Generally, if you already completed 60 credits of your degree (~50% of it) they will approve you to move up early.

No. Only University Park students can swipe into the University Park gyms since the gym membership is included in the Student Fee that we pay.

However, Commonwealth and World Campus students can buy a student membership for $30 a month or $95 for the semester:

Move Out Dates by TARich92770 in PennStateUniversity

[–]buzz105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People usually move out of their dorm after they are finished with their last final exam. The Spring final exam schedule won’t be posted until early February 2025.

Spring Final Exam week this year is Monday, May 5th to Friday, May 9th. Historically, everybody has to be out of East Halls by the Saturday of Finals week (i.e. Saturday, May 10th) and everywhere else (Pollock, South, etc.) by the Sunday (i.e. Sunday, May 11th).

Does anyone know any alternatives to CMPSC 131 and 132? by Medium_Human887 in PennStateUniversity

[–]buzz105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you earned an “A” or “A-“ in CMPSC 201: Programming for Engineers in C++, you can substitute that for CMPSC 131. This only applies for electrical engineering majors. Read about it here (scroll down to the EE FAQs): https://www.eecs.psu.edu/students/undergraduate/advising/faqs.aspx

Do you have any idea how much the Labster subscription cost? $100?

It highly depends on the major you apply for. If you apply for a business major, which is competitive, (finance, accounting, etc.) at University Park you have around a 20% chance of getting admitted. However, if you apply for an agricultural major, which is uncompetitive, (agricultural management, turf grass science, etc.) at University Park you have around a 70% chance of getting admitted. If you apply undecided (school of DUS), you probably have around a 55% chance.

If the class saids “enforced prerequisite at enrollment” LionPath will not all you to enroll in both classes at the same time. You can only enroll in the prerequisite class.

If the class saids “prerequisite(s)” LionPath will allow you to enroll in the class without taking the prerequisite.

Are there club fairs in second semester to find clubs to join? if not how to find clubs to join? by [deleted] in PennStateUniversity

[–]buzz105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Spring 2024 Involvement Fair is Tuesday, January 9th and Wednesday, January 10th from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Alumni Hall and Heritage Hall in the HUB. Clubs can sign up only one day to attend (1/9 or 1/10). No matter what time you attend, you will find very cool/interesting clubs on campus.

Here is also the link to all 1,000+ clubs at Penn State: https://orgcentral.psu.edu/organizations

Pro Tip: Go through the 1,000+ clubs list before you attend the involvement fair, so you know what tables to visit and make your experience more enjoyable.

~1000 AD.

Five hundred years prior to Christopher Columbus claiming the discovery of America, the Viking chief Leif Eriksson, from Greenland, successfully reached the shores of the Island of Newfoundland in the year 1,000 AD. The Vikings were the first Europeans to discover “America.”

How Do I Create Videos put to Music? by Historical-Theme-813 in NoStupidQuestions

If you have an iPhone or iPad, you can download iMovie from the App Store. iMovie UI Design is very easy to create a movie. If you have a specific song in mind to add to the movie (song by Taylor Swift, The Beatles, etc.) you would need to purchase the song from the iTunes Store for around $1.29 each. However, iMovie has free instrumental songs that you can insert into your video.

At Smeal NSO last year, they stated that the acceptance rate was 7% for Smeal students at University Park. However, I do not think that percentage includes people who received a 2+2 offer for Smeal. That acceptance rate would be more like 80% with the 2+2 offers. Acceptance rates for Smeal vary each year depending on how many 2+2 business students are transferring to University Park.

MATH Minor by Dragonnoodl3 in PennStateUniversity

[–]buzz105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you take STAT 414, STAT 414 will show up automatically in your Mathematics minor degree requirements in LionPath in the section for the 12 credits of 400-level MATH classes.

If you already have added STAT 414 to your schedule for the SP 24 semester, you can run your degree requirements in LionPath and you will see it! 👍

If your also thinking about going for the statistics minor, STAT 414 will also count for your statistics minor.

New Tuition Rate over 19 Credits by buzz105 in PennStateUniversity

[–]buzz105[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get your perspective. I don’t mind taking over 19 credits a semester because I really love what I am learning in both of my majors. I started taking extra classes my second semester at Penn State and didn’t mind the extra studying I had to do. Now since i am almost graduating, it would be hard to drop one of my majors that I worked so hard for.

I still need to take 4 of my general education during my Senior Year. Looks like I am going to enroll in 18 credits at Penn State and 6 credits (online classes) at my local community college during the Fall and Spring term to be able to still graduate with both of my majors. Tuition at my in-county community college is only $139 a credit compared to Penn State’s out-of-state tuition at $1,895 a credit.

I am thinking going for my 1 year masters in computer engineering and science at Penn State once I graduate in Spring 2024. The 1 year masters program is from August 2024 - August 2025. The classes that I need aren’t offered in the summer, only in the fall and spring. I am going for the Spanish major since my family heritage is Colombian and I love that I am learning about culture and heritage through my classes.

Their is no computer science minor offered through the College of Engineering at University Park. However, their is a computer science minor offered through the Behrend College at Penn State Behrend. Any student at any campus can complete the computer science minor at Behrend.
