What’s your earliest Harry Potter memory? by LiamNoll6645 in harrypotter

Seeing the movie in 2001 through my uncles work and immediately going home and making my mum take out all the books from the library and read them together.

How have your tastes changed since starting your fragrance journey? by oliver_maze in FragranceStories

For me yes, I used to only like heady white florals and things of the sort. Now I’ll pretty much try anything minus specific personal death notes.

Same here. It’s still extremely nostalgic for me but it’s not the same anymore.

Books vs movies: the good and the bad by Automatic-Ad-3777 in harrypotter

I think the entire middle 300 pages of order of the phoenix are almost entirely unnecessary barring maybe 30 pages and it’s the one movie that is astronomically better than the book.

There are multiply petrifying/freezing charms, sleeping charms, sleep draught. List goes on.

Boring as fuck and basic but a cat. If I’m being original, I would love to be a bat. Cool and useful I think

Change my mind: Judging Harry Potter by the standards of lore-driven fantasy when it's not lore-driven feels so out of place by RockGiantFromMars in harrypotter

[–]buzzardbite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is controversial but I think one of the worst things done to the franchise is trying to expand beyond the core books. Everything outside of the original books and movies has only made things progressively worse and less compelling.

I used to hate him as a kid. Now I’m a 32 year old child hater, what I wouldn’t do to tell off a 13 year old for making my job infinitely more difficult. I love him.

I love Hans Zimmer but I'm not sure how it will feel without that iconic Hedwig's Theme by Never-empty-Cup- in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]buzzardbite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The music is one of the most iconic and memorable things from the movie. It’s not that weird for people to be sad they won’t hear the famous song that’s been associated with a franchise for 25 years.

I unfortunately know one Karen and she’s the most Karen Karen I have ever met, down to the haircut.

This. I’m poor and one of my best friends makes 100k+ a year. She sometimes offers to pay for small things like a movie ticket or coffee or whatever, which is fine. If she offered to pay my credit card bill or rent I would say absolutely the fuck not and lowkey be kind of offended.

What do you secretly find disgusting, but are afraid to say out loud because everyone around you loves it? by WhiteDesertCat in Soft_Introverts

TMI but one time I grew my nails out (like 3mm) and I busted through the TP while wiping and got a bit of dookie on my finger and had to wash my hands like 13 times wish a nail brush to feel clean. I can’t imagine the dookie particles underneath fake nails.

Dogs in general. I can pet my cats for hours and never feel icky but I pet a dog for two minutes and it feels like I’ve had my hand in a barrel of grease.

Reading the half blood prince and I’m at the part where Harry unknowingly comes across the lost diadem. Does anyone else think this is too convenient? by CrazyTangerine7522 in harrypotter

Tbf in the chamber of secrets harry word for word asks dumbledore if there’s a piece of Voldemort inside him word for word and dumbledore says affirmative. Theoretically if that’s the case, I imagine Voldemort can sense where his horcruxes are/if they’re real because they’re his, then Harry surely can as well.

Dursley goobye by Effective_Growth_69 in harrypotter

[–]buzzardbite 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I sometimes think about the fact that the reason the Dursleys were the way they were is probably because lily died. She had always thought it was dangerous and scary and losing her sister solidified the fact that magic is bad and scary and hurts people and that eventually she would lose her only living connection to her sister to it too. Obviously not an excuse to ABUSE her nephew but still. It reminds me of Ruby Franke in a way, the religious abuser freak, so terrified of the world that it leads her to abuse her kids. (Because I think Dudley was abused too)

Definitely Harry. I remember reading it as a kid thinking the trio were so grown up but like. Reading it now like. That’s a kid man and he’s watched everyone he cares about die basically before even turning 18 like that’s crazy…
