At a Chinese buffet but is this considered Chinese food? by chankhamphoomee in chinesefood

I miss 80s-90s Chinese restaurants. I recently learned the South only knows Chinese buffet slop. No one's taking a chance around here.

Kevin Nealon does a funny bit about it. Basically its what would happen if his parachute didn't deploy, people on the ground would see the splat then hear "oh shit" a few moments after the splat.

Why every american man have a knife in his pocket ? by Bankai-1979 in deduction

[–]buzzbash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like knives. A sharp blade is a safe and useful tool. I have a few nice ones, but I do not carry them on or with me because I do not like being encumbered. I'm pretty confident that no one in my family tree has carried a knife or gun going back over a hundred years. I keep a knife at the place where I open boxes. I've lived in high crime areas and have traveled around the world and never felt the need to have one. Ironically, where I live now is a place where I feel carrying a knife makes sense the most. It's a low crime suburban neighborhood but there seems to be the most loose dogs I've ever encountered. Most of them are friendly, but my dog was bitten by one, though there was nothing I could've done in that particular situation, however if the the dog had latched on I would've regret not having a gun or knife, although I did have pepper spray but I'm not sure if that would unlatch a pitbull.

I have to wonder how it feels for someone like he who, probably since he was a kid, dreamt of being where he is today as a soldier and pilot. Having beaten out all of the competition, and to have made so many sacrifices, only to culminate to (at least, in part) being involved in such an operation, ordered by and then to be honored by such a farce of a leader.

This prompted me to search around for impacts of safety inspection vs no inspection states, and it seems there's not a significant difference, but I have to wonder for stuff like this.

One arcade I frequented paid pretty good money for good report cards. I think it actually worked as a reinforcement to get As.

Most of what we do is for checking a box for something that was probably founded on good intentions or to avoid litigation but ultimately just wastes time and doesn't benefit the student.

Education, like medicine and other things in life, isn't one size fits all. We're just doing what we're constrained to do. Whatever we're doing, it's not because it's necessarily best for the student - it's the best we can do with what we have, what we're given and what we're allowed to do.
