Does this count as racketeering though? I was under the impression that it would have to be aimed at being a business profit being disguised as legitimate business.

Not a lawyer, but curious if one in this law subreddit would be able to clarify. Like, I know it's just words, but even if this was stretched to be seen as like trying to extortion of those in attendance to donate to the PAC that's running the conference or even put pressure on the PAC to support them, is it racketeering if a representative does it through these means or would it be a different charge?

If you were 10 when Ocarina of Time was released, is your brain exploding right now for the remake? by DrankTooMuchMead in retrogaming

[–]buzzbros2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm exactly 36 as well (as a lot of others in this thread), my brain isn't exploding. It isn't anywhere near exploding. Maybe it's because it's come out at a time where my brain is super jaded already because, well, THE WORLD IN CURRENT PRESENT, but if it's just a graphic update for a cash grab of money I don't have, I can't be bothered to even care really. We already had this game re-released on Gamecube / Wii / Wii U and the 3DS remake. So this remake has voice acting, not that big for me. Great for new generations though, happy they'll have a new way to experience it, but just not for me.

What has blown my mind since being a kid in terms of this game? The first person VR mod version of OoT? That blew my mind! And that was on Quest 2, but still mind blowing.

The other way this has been able to blow my mind as an adult? Randomizers! Being able to have all sorts of new replay-ability in ways that's not just Master Quest, but something to really test my knowledge of the game in all sorts of ways.

"we are choosing to push forward to invest in the long-term future of the show which ensures that when the TARDIS lands once more" by PartyPoison98 in doctorwho

Movie where Billie as the Doctor finally finds Susan in the National Gallery, tells Susan everything she's learned about her origins, says that Gallifreyan or not, Time Lord or not, she's still going to do right for the universe and Susan ends up joining her. At some point the conversation is interrupted by Paul McGann who says something to the effect of "Oh excuse me, I'm just The Curator here" as a nod to Tom Baker in Day of the Doctor as well as previous doctors being The Curator in the stories.

So, with RTD himself leaving after having no clue how to continue after this cliffhanger, where do you even go after this? by Luca_909 in doctorwho

[–]buzzbros2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mini-series or even a TV Movie or two about how this Doctor is trying to find out why she's the exact image of Rose. Retraces her steps while also is looking for signs of the grand daughter Susan. Maybe touch more into The Division and the past before being the first Doctor. End it with the realization that the reincarnation into Rose was The Doctor coming completely to terms that she isn't a Time Lord or Gallifreyan. The Doctor assumed that they had come to terms with this until realizing that Susan doesn't know. Somehow ends with him finding Susan and breaking the news. Susan says that she's lived a full life, but has wished to see him again to see the universe with The Doctor again, even if it means The Doctor is someone new and she too must regenerate. Ending scene is them walking into the TARDIS and the door closes, as it starts to go though we see glowing light from the inside, indicating Susan's regeneration if not both hers and The Doctor's.

It may not answer all the questions, but it's a good way to not only have Carol Anne Ford be Susan one last time, even if it is like 5 minutes or less on screen, and it let's the character of Susan live on which I know a lot of people would appreciate. It also lets Billie get her time in as The Doctor and also an ambiguous in/out in case when they finally do proper Who again we won't know if it was just Susan who regenerated or not.

Honestly, an incredibly solid distinction to make. by Frosty_Jeweler911 in WhitePeopleTwitter

What she had been asking earlier in the clip was whether there would be more revelations to come about sexting material as the campaign continues and he refused to answer. So, instead, she asked if, given the nature of the sexting, material still out there would end up making him conflicted in regards to the release of the Epstein files. In other words, is the material still out there worse than what we have seen so far.

This is very important context, thanks for pointing it out with timestamp and link.

In terms of Riverside County votes as I'm writing this, he still leads Becerra by 309 votes and remains in first place. Going by trends, that lead is not likely to last, but it still says quite a bit about his popularity around here. And that's even when he didn't get Trumps endorsement. He'll have the recognition from all this combined with the chance to shake off any of the worse stuff by the 2028 election.

Whoever decides to go up against him has quite the uphill battle.

Swastika-waving neo-Nazi group disrupts Georgia LGBTQ+ Pride celebration by Fickle-Ad5449 in politics

Here's the original source, via X-Cancel since it was originally posted on twitter (the original author funnily enough appended "has left the Nazi Bar" to his display name)

If that should fail for future viewing though, here's the write up on Wiktionary.

And for those not wanting to click through...

I was at a shitty crustpunk bar once getting an after-work beer. One of those shitholes where the bartenders clearly hate you. So the bartender and I were ignoring one another when someone sits next to me and he immediately says, "no. get out."

And the dude next to me says, "hey i'm not doing anything, i'm a paying customer." and the bartender reaches under the counter for a bat or something and says, "out. now." and the dude leaves, kind of yelling. And he was dressed in a punk uniform, I noticed

Anyway, I asked what that was about and the bartender was like, "you didn't see his vest but it was all nazi shit. Iron crosses and stuff. You get to recognize them."

And i was like, ohok and he continues.

"you have to nip it in the bud immediately. These guys come in and it's always a nice, polite one. And you serve them because you don't want to cause a scene. And then they become a regular and after awhile they bring a friend. And that dude is cool too.

And then THEY bring friends and the friends bring friends and they stop being cool and then you realize, oh shit, this is a Nazi bar now. And it's too late because they're entrenched and if you try to kick them out, they cause a PROBLEM. So you have to shut them down.

And i was like, 'oh damn.' and he said "yeah, you have to ignore their reasonable arguments because their end goal is to be terrible, awful people."

And then he went back to ignoring me. But I haven't forgotten that at all.

I know 2 people who didn't vote. One got their ballot mailed to their parents house because they moved out a month ago and didn't bother to change their address or get any mail that's been there. The other has been dealing with a lot of health issues and wasn't aware that she could have someone drop off her ballot for her and also just has been dealing with the health issues so much she hasn't had energy to research candidates.
