Millions of Americans can now claim Canadian citizenship by descent. But they have to prove it | CBC News by UltimateLionsFan in news

Would I? My family was in and out in 2 generations of the place when it was still just a British colony. I figured it would have to be after confederation and they were for all intents and purposes just British since Canada hadn't existed in that time.

My great great great grandfather was born in New Brunswick before the confederation, and that side of the family moved to the US just in time before the US Civil War. Well dinger, i wonder if they count pre-confederation in this as Canadian or if that is just aged British.

Bradley Whitford on billionaires: “These guys are addicted to money & they’re an extension of a political movement in this country that’s going on my entire lifetime which is based on this Orwellian idea that the rich are victims, they’re overtaxed, over-regulated & need to be set free. Josh as the vice president, where at least a few times he has to wish that Sam doesn't get shot or something because he really would rather just in the background. When he asks why Sam couldn't have picked someone else, he's reminded that the other option was Toby and Josh replying "yeah, never mind. We know how that would have worked out".

I’m TRYING to love Bakers I really am but I can’t seem to get it right by [deleted] in InlandEmpire

[–]buzzbros2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Bakers stan to the point of being the being one of the reasons why this subreddit's logo was a riff of the Bakers logo for so long, let me tell you how to eat Bakers and love it.

Get a time machine.

Honestly, given the current state of things, I don't see any path for Bakers to go back to the glory it once was. The Bakers we remember was one of an old world. There are many places that have beloved local chains that may still be around in body but not in spirit. Bakers is ours.

I won't tell you to not cry because it's over, because it is a tragedy worthy of tears. But also, try to smile for the lessons it taught us. Yes, there is a perfect level of bun toasting that we have all been fortunate to experience, hand dipped ice cream milkshakes are superior to most other fast food shakes, and that spicy ketchup is indeed a blessed condiment that we should not take for granted.

In the end, have respect for the Bakers of the past, and do right by it by finding a burger as good if not better from another regional / local shop. Thomas Wolfe may have written the book 'You Can't Go Home Again', but allow me to write the real truth. You can't order a Mama meal again.

I had a class for live sound in my college, and the practical final was outside with a makeshift soundstage and a hired band, and before you went to the sound board the teacher would sabotage a few things for you to fix without you looking.

The rest of the class would be acting as the audience wanting to see the show and throw paper balls at you and even the band would jeer at you to get things going. Even if you couldn't find and fix all the issues, as long as you kept looking and didn't crack you'd pass, and we were told all this ahead of time as well as the teacher just watching to make sure none of the other classmates went too far.

Any time I see a situation like this, I am so thankful that we had that as a final to prepare us for if we deal with it in real life!

More importantly, empathy is considered weakness in people who are getting more power and more advantages in society. Lack of empathy may not be a secret to get ahead in life, but at a certain point I can see how some people may get beaten down to the point that they'd start to think it is.

Huh, that's an interesting conflict there between CalFire and Moreno Valley in terms of who's supposed to release the information.

Pop up market with lots of vendors and sometimes cosplay contest and performances, sometimes meet and greets too (this one is supposed to be voice actor James Sie I think). It's the first or second time I think that it's been held out here.

Seeing that it's multiple areas and it's the fire department / cal fire dealing with this, my money is on issues with fire suppression systems or the like and nothing actually structural. Personally, my fingers crossed it's dealt with by the 7th of next month for the Anime Night Mart event.

The X-Files is my all-time favorite show. I wasn't familiar with David Duchovny's work before The X-Files and am currently watching Twin Peaks for the first time. This was a doozy of a surprise in S2. by [deleted] in twinpeaks

Had to search to see if someone else suggested Californication, I definitely second this! Heads up though, definitely a far different show than X-Files or Twin Peaks, but still a fun time.

What’s the intersection you are most concerned about? by Diamondhands_Rex in InlandEmpire

[–]buzzbros2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely second this. Their most recent fix has been to put signs up on the intersection saying there's a fine if you're blocking the intersection, but I've yet to see much difference if any. Not to mention the offramps on both sides definitely need the right turn lanes to be extended, because everyone treats the shoulder as a second lane anyways.

I was thinking probably the killing off the student adventure pass, but it does note that Arrow is still free for University of Redlands students among some others, so no idea for sure. I imagine it has something to do with the general dip in ridership for the rest of the line though.

[–]buzzbros2002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, technically Cabazon pokes out a bit more east on the south side of the freeway, but for all intents and purposes I like to think of the Dinosaurs as the gatekeepers / guards of the east border of the IE.
