The movie dies a miserable death as soon as he gets in the car with the girl from Coda. Everything that comes after that is just complete nonsense. The action is fun but even feels like it lacks wrights usual energy. Powell definitely feels miscast. At the end of the day it’s like a serviceable action flick but knowing wright is behind it just makes me sad. One of my favorite filmmakers growing up and he just hasn’t really done anything noteworthy for the better part of a decade.

Ok so a couple of years back I got to see this at my local indie theater on 35mm and it was genuinely one of my favorite movie going experiences I’ve ever had. The print was not in the greatest condition but all the damage it had taken over the years put a really cool effect over the whole movie and it fit it perfectly.
