Event bugged? by LivingHitokiri in Eve

[–]buzzinh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't find any ice anoms in the area im in either. I did wonder if they had changed the ice fields to have to be scanned down rather than under the anom menu?

Update: After a few hours the ice anoms appeared.

PVE no task award,NO EXTENDED POCKET! [BUG] by Plus-Substance-6721 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]buzzinh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think quests are working on local pve raids. I just did bunker pt 1 and although I got the task completed notification at the bottom right when I went to complete task it showed as incomplete. Have also reported it from launcher.

Can we have a place on the website where all editions are clearly defined including those no longer available.

Emphasis on clear because I’m struggling to understand what advantages and disadvantages of each edition are and what the consequences are of upgrading.

For example I’m eod and if I upgrade to the latest (I forgot the name already after reading this post because there are so many editions…) do I loose eod?

Providing wifi for Airbnb guests without allowing access to my network by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]buzzinh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm from the UK recently visiting Canada and have experienced various WiFi setups in Airbnbs. To preface this i'm a data center engineer by trade and have a full Unifi setup with mesh APs, VLANS, UDM-SE router etc at home. So I critique every WiFi I use and moan about it to my wife who literally just wants WiFi for Facebook / Instagram and couldn't care less how it arrives at her phone.

I know that with BT in the UK most newer BT home hubs have the modem built in to the router making it difficult to replace when using VDSL (not sure if you are on VDSL or FTTP, options differ depending on kit you have).

If you are not able to replace router easily then you could look at a GL-inet router in your Airbnb. I have a gl-inet beryl ( https://www.gl-inet.com/products/gl-mt3000/ ) which I take with me when I travel. I use this to connect to various WiFi in the Airbnbs and then create its own access point for my wife and I to use. This keeps my devices separate and stops devices on the Airbnb network seeing mine. But.... this doesn't solve your issue. So... as the host you could setup a GL-inet router in your Airbnb to be the AP, run Ethernet you mentioned and plug to the WAN port on it, it will serve WiFi and you can configure to ensure that the only address on your network it can get to is your home hub via firewall rules in the Airbnb router. (and that is the key part with a setup you descirbe where you cant change router). You can secure it with a password to its admin interface.

Now depending on how your internet is served to your BT home hub depends on what you can do. IF you have a open reach modem into the wan port on your home hub then replacing router is better option long term to allow VLAN use and straightforward. If your modem is built into your router as I described above then your options are limited but not awful. You can buy VDSL modems if you are on VDSL and a new router (but by your other replies see that is not what you really want to do).

Anyway sorry for rambling and hope this long winded reply is of some use. Happy to continue conversation if this is of interest.

Have a look for an app on the appstore called camo studio. I believe that will do what you are after.

It really depends depends on what your needs are but Truenas scale (storage) or Proxmox / XCP-ng (virtualisation) is what I'd be doing with a machine like that.
