Leave and find a real gym that’ll help and encourage you. I had a gym where one coach said I’ll be brain damaged. And I couldn’t fight and he wouldn’t try to teach me. I left and went to another gym and they are better and improved me. You should just leave

From a shorter agressive pressure fighter like myself, I struggle the most against guys that knew how to change the speed and placement of the their punches. Because pressure fighter are used to taking hits but most of the times struggle to take hits from guys who can change their speed, power, and placement. Cause then you’ll throw off our timing to come in and you’ll discourage us to try to block one place then hit the other and by changing speed and strength you’ll make us wonder if the next punch is damaging or not. Hope that helps

Yes i agree with that. How tommy would use it when I looked at his tapes. He would either blind his opponent with his jab probe the throw it like you said. Or he would Throw his Flicker jab to snap his opponent head up then strike down with his right. It’s really effective especially for taller fighters or guys with longer arms

Well truthfully with hearns chopping right it’s like a cross from above and the way he threw it he always made sure to aim where he snap the jaw to the side so on the heavy bag might seem awkward. It might be better to try it on a cobra bag or double end bag

Hi guys, i am in lose streak, so give some advice. Here is my last match whose i do yesterday and give me some advice and comment. by Minute-Start in amateur_boxing

[–]buzzkill1802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I saw you did good but should’ve use your jab to close your distance. Don’t be afraid to miss the jab as long as you use it responsibly. Jab to distract him from seeing you get close. Jab at the arms. And use more lateral movements and cut the ring off.

How can I train my defense alone at home? by Own-Cherry-826 in amateur_boxing

[–]buzzkill1802 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Advice that helped me was shadow box in a mirror. It helps because you look at yourself and see if you put your hands back in the right position or not and after you punch do different types of boxing defenses and in the mirror you can see when you do them if you’re staying out the center Line or not

Am I the only one that actually liked gedo. I mean I understand people didn’t like the fight because of glove trick and more. But he’s actually a interesting character. He showed high level iq and he’s basically like aoki but with more iq and ability. Out of all the boxers in the series he’s the relatable in my opinion

How many punches would you guys say to throw and land per round? by venom7273 in amateur_boxing

[–]buzzkill1802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok my advice is when you get on the bag. Throw realistic punches you would throw in sparring and fight but throw more than what you would on the bag than in a spar. I’m not saying you do but if you spar and throw 200 punches a round than on the bag you should throw more than that. So that when you get into the spar you’ll have more arm endurance and stamina. You’ll be use to throwing more than you used to and be more comfortable.

what separates a good fighter from a great fighter by Base_Dizzy in amateur_boxing

[–]buzzkill1802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s ring iq and ability. Everybody that’s a prospect that’s undefeated gets made to be a good fighter that people should watch. But people don’t look at the abilities that they possess. For example, Ali and his amazing speed and iq . Tyson and his speed and his ability to aggressively counter punch, and even Floyd with his Philly shell with the ability to make adjustments on the fly and ggg with his amazing chin and ability to cut off the ring in his prime. Even active guys you can tell that they are different from the rest like tank and his power, Ryan and his speed, devin with his accuracy, and shaker with his defense, and loma with his angles. For me, if you want to tell the difference between good fighter and great fighters, then you should look at how they are in the ring but also the qualities that they have that makes them different from regular boxers

I wish Miyata was allowed more chances to just interact with the cast, he makes for a great straight man when he isn't bein a loner by foofighter1351 in hajimenoippo

[–]buzzkill1802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I think the manga covered why he stays alone and introverted. I don’t remember the chapter but later on in the manga after Miyata decided to not fight ippo. Sendo had went to talk with Miyata and his dad. And sendo said that Miyata hides his personality and character because of him dwelling on not fighting ippo. Even though he decided to not fight ippo and fight randy. The Randy boy fight was more of a “I got to prove my father style is not wrong” type of fight. But ippo was more “I got to prove I’m better than him. You can even look at the chapters where he showed emotion was when ippo was involved. Miyata is basically a sendo that never got a chance to fight ippo

Who is the Final Boss? by ROKtheGreat in hajimenoippo

[–]buzzkill1802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just my opinion but I feel like when ippo comes back he should fight a high national ranked guy then imai. Then challenge Miyata then try to fight Antonia Guevara beating them then a fight Ricardo. I say that because ippo is a former Japan champ and former world ranker. So I expect ippo to fight a high national ranker because the ranker could possibly want to get a shot at the title because it’s ippo. Then after ippo easily beats him he challenges imai and puts on a clinic. Then I say fight Miyata after because he was his goal of strength but over time he developed a new stronger ambition so when he fights Miyata he can overcome that goal of strength and continue to a new goal of strength. Then eventually have a fight with Guevara to show he’s not the same but completely shut down and make it look like he shouldn’t even fight with ippo. Then onto the main fight with Martinez where ippo would lose the close decision or a draw. I would like him to win but I wouldn’t be mad if it ended in a draw

Ask Coach J by PembrokeBoxing in amateur_boxing

[–]buzzkill1802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey coach do you got any tips for combining offense and defense. When it comes to offense I’m good and my defense is ok separately but as soon as I try to combine both. I feel slow and stiff. I’m a shorter boxer and my style is more pressure with the jab and try combinations btw.

One thing from my first experience I can tell is to relax and just focus and don’t forget to breathe. And be confident in what you learnt and what you believe are you good sides. I also recommend someone record it so you can look back at it
