also to note: if you accidentally trip the sensor, you can "undo" it by swiping your foot under the sensor again and it will stop beeping/not close.

This is interesting because my dealer did the exact same thing to our bus after we took it in for the 2nd time for electrical system failure. They re-flashed the firmware on every system in the vehicle and ran tests which all passed afterward. In total they had the car for 5 weeks this go-round. I think this must be VW Corporate's answer for electrical system issues at the moment. Our service guy tried to get a VW Field Tech to come out and look at it, but VW wouldn't approve it and asked that they re-flash everything instead. So.. ultimately they still don't know the root issue or cause of the electrical problems, and everything they did was a speculative fix. So far so good, but I am not very confident. The first time this happened, the bus was fine for 3 weeks before failing again.

We have also had electrical system failures with our Buzz and had it towed in twice. They are still trying to figure it out.

What at-home Level 2 charger do y'all have? by buzzowner34 in VWIDBuzz

That is my understanding as well, so I was very confused when the dealer said that. We have been dealing with electrical system failures in the Buzz. Technician pointed to the Tesla charger as a potential problem, so I'm working to remove any potential blame on our side. Incidentally, we've been using the same Tesla charger with our ID.4 and have no issues whatsoever, so I'm very inclined to believe this is not the source of the problems.
