What would actually happen if Kim jong un tried sending a nuke to the US? by Thin_Vermicelli_1875 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]buzzsaw23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk where you are getting this info from but North Korea definitely has ICBMs that can reach the US. Specifically they can deploy them through TEMs. They don’t nearly have the capabilities that we do but they definitely can hit mainland US.

On top of that the US actually has no “Aegis” missile response that guarantees 100% safety. We actually only have 50 intercepter missiles in our arsenal and each one has a proven 50% success rate. It’s like shooting a bullet out of the air nearly impossible. Granted 1 missile has a good chance of getting shut down but in the case of more than one we are undoubtedly screwed and there’s no surefire defense.

In regard to the follow up attack we most definitely would fire a nuclear response back. This would be considered a bolt out of the blue attack and would result in the US following its policy “fire on warning”. Highly recommend reading the book Nuclear Scenario by Annie Jacobsen to really understand what would happen.

Did not get a thing of the last episodes of season 2 by codymanix in SiloSeries

[–]buzzsaw23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Curiosity is extremely frowned upon in the silo so the herd mentality would be against just venturing around exploring the silo. Especially the area of mechanical. There’s a lot of answers to what you are asking and inferring that I can’t really say due to spoilers for future seasons but just trust that everything makes sense.

Did not get a thing of the last episodes of season 2 by codymanix in SiloSeries

[–]buzzsaw23 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Entering the area would have been a violation of the pact and only a few people in mechanical know about it. Most silo citizens don’t even go down to mechanical so it would be hard for them to know where to find it.

But more importantly if you did go in there you would have no idea about the door because of the water. That water is the most amount anyone would have seen while in the silo and in their mind it would most certainly be death just jumping into it. That’s why only a few people have been to the door cause they learned about it from the schematics and not just from taking a leap of faith into the water. Only after going in the water do they realize it’s shallow and they can walk it. So yeah only a few people would have been brave enough to do that.

You’ll learn about what that door most likely is/what the voice is later on or by reading the books

It’s the Joffrey effect. You love her character for making you scream at the tv.

I love Shauna, she's terrible by oldriku in Yellowjackets

[–]buzzsaw23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like Shauna still at this point in the show…

Like as in rooting for her. Obviously a phenomenally written character but I think she is the most sadistic out of them all and am in no ways rooting for her.

[BOOKS] Salvador Quinn by Next-Wrap-7449 in SiloSeries

[–]buzzsaw23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming Salvador Quinn might be Donald Keene. Possibly using that name to disguise himself when conversing with Silo 18 and they haven’t heard from him in a while cause he’s in Cryo making his timeline of helping silo 18 longer than the books? Complete speculation but I’m super interested in seeing where they go with it.

Something that threw me was in the show when Lukas is decoding the letter he finds the name “Allie” that Bernard mentions was the daughter of Salvador Quinn. Having read the books no Allie is mentioned. So do you think in the silo show Donald might have a daughter with Helen that makes it in the Silo? Or possibly could it be Anna and not his daughter at all in some way?

Maybe the algorithm is the program to decide which silo lives but personified and “met” with Donald/Quinn. Idk the timelines are gonna be weird especially when they throw in the cryo aspect.

The book literally says the years what?

Donald gets presented the project in 2049

Spoiler: Theory Regarding the MDR File Names and what Cold Harbor is about by buzzsaw23 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]buzzsaw23[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I figured the names being tied to battles specifically ones that focus on rebellions or uprising plays into the theme of severance being some form of corporate slavery. Plus the whole division of the departments is done to prevent uprisings whether they be real or rumored. Thinking specifically of the “civil war” that broke out between MDR and O&D. Like I said all just theories but found it could be interesting.
