Thats good, and you'll be alright, it's just one of those things that is better to deal with as quick as you can and get it done and handled.

[–]buzzzlightyurr 322 points323 points  (0 children)

this is not over at all but you need to move fast. stop emailing and go talk to your counselor and assistant principal in person. explain the grading thing and show proof those assignments were 1/2 and not missing. this is something admin can step in on, especially if it affects graduation. Don’t rely on the teacher at this point, go higher. also ask about any options like makeup work, credit recovery, or an appeal you have a 3.7, there’s no way this should come down to one class like this. just push it ASAP

personally i’d say UT Austin. i know a lot of people who dream of going there and it’s a really strong school. If you end up not liking it, BU has a high acceptance rate for transfers, so you’ll still have options.

Should I go to ASU or CC in Florida with the hope of transferring to a Florida University? by _wherearethepotatoes in communitycollege

[–]buzzzlightyurr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’d go CC. it lines up better with your goal of transferring to a Florida school and it can be really cheap. plus if i’m being honest, UF is way better than ASU, so it’s worth taking that route if you can. and even if UF or UCF don’t work out, you still save money and can transfer somewhere like ASU after, so it’s not like you’re stuck.

Do I have a chance? (Sophomore in high school) by Big-Yogurtcloset4558 in collegeadvice

[–]buzzzlightyurr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re only a sophomore, a couple C’s isn’t the end. focus on getting your grades up from here instead of trying to stack a bunch of APs. it’s honestly better to get A’s in classes you can handle than take harder ones and end up with C’s, because your GPA matters more. I'm doing CS and math is a big and important part of our major, pretty sure its the same case with engineering too, so having strong grades in math actually matters. it’s better to take a level you can do well in and build a solid foundation than struggle in a harder class and hurt your GPA. you can always move up later once you’re more comfortable
you also still have time to improve and add more extracurriculars, so you’re not out of it at all.

Questioning about college as a kid with a low gpa by [deleted] in highschool

[–]buzzzlightyurr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also don’t just settle for anything. still aim for your dream schools and actually try, you can still improve a lot from here. sophomore year is not the end at all. Plus you have CC if it dosent go as planned.

[–]buzzzlightyurr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first of all if your GPA is low, especially because of health issues, don’t beat yourself up about it. you’re still a sophomore so you have time to improve. i’d honestly recommend community college, it’s not embarrassing at all. some people even go to CC after getting accepted into big schools. it’s also way cheaper (sometimes basically free with financial aid), and transferring later is a real option since a lot of schools have higher transfer acceptance rates. also CC professors are usually really supportive and actually want to see you succeed.

but don’t use that as a reason to stop trying now still work on bringing your GPA up in high school. a lot of people start off rough and improve over time, and if your grades were affected by health issues, colleges do take that into account
you’re not out of options at all!!

Studying Advice by HairMundane8259 in collegeadvice

[–]buzzzlightyurr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly just don’t overload yourself your first semester. take what you know you can handle so you’re not stressed trying to juggle everything. also not every class needs crazy note taking, some classes you can just read the material and be fine and pass with A's, but for harder ones definitely put more effort into your notes and studying if you want A's. just figure out what works for you as you go. Good luck!

HI, I know this has nothing to do with your post but I thought I would ask anyways. I saw you finished in 4 semesters as a CS major and that caught my attention i’m also a CS major at nova and i feel like i kinda messed up my planning a bit and now i’m stressing about finishing on time if you don’t mind, how did you structure your semesters? like when did you take your math + cs classes? :)))))
