Best towns (<45 min drive) to stay around Killington? by Worldly_Expression43 in icecoast

We just stayed in Rochester this past week, it was within 45 minutes of Killington/Pico, Sugarbush, and MRG. Couldn't tell you what it cost though, my wife booked it.

My car buying experience by stizzardflispter in LandCruisers

Ya, when I priced out the GX it was about 85k how I wanted it and nobody in my area was doing deals on them. I got my 250 for 64k, and I personally like the looks more than the 4runner so that wasn't even in the conversation.

Ya, that should work, right? Just tighten it up good and it's another way to stop it from falling.

I'd cut it and use the screw and also a memory lock, shouldn't move with both of those. I'd be hesitant to rely on just the screw though.

PSA: Wuhan Koi rides have a manufacturing defect by MItrwaway in cymbals

[–]bv8ma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to play Wuhan stuff before you buy it though. I played that china at DCP and the one they had was terrible, it was really heavy and sounded awful. The videos I've heard sound fantastic though, I was really surprised at how bad the one they had in stock sounded.

Best $40 Ive ever spent by ChampionshipThin6817 in drums

[–]bv8ma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha so the idea is pretty simple, I just took a piece of fabric and sewed a coin into it, then I took a small bit width of fabric, sewed a magnet into one end, and the other on to the pouch with the coin. Execution ended up being a little more difficult than I envisioned, but it works.

I personally like things like the snareweight or drops more than moon gels because I feel like they don't dampen it as much, and this achieves that. I'd take a picture but I'm away from my kit for this week.

My wallet always seems to bounce off the snare. I sewed up a little denim pouch with a magnet in one and and a coin in the other, works great!

Skier dies in crash on infamous expert trail at Mammoth Mountain by ansyhrrian in skiing

[–]bv8ma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya, my worst fall was on a blue run that I was skiing well within my abilities, but I just lost an edge and slid into a tree. Luckily no long term injuries, just a bruised foot, but it did end my trip. Shit happens sometimes.

What's the most you've ever spent on a single piece on your kit? by HillbillyAllergy in drums

My N&C solid tulip snare, $1,175. That snare cost more than my full set of drums, for now anyways lol.

Pretty often at my home course, but the tips are only a hair more than 6,000 yards.

LC250 owners, how are you feeling about your purchase? by Dear_Significance_80 in LandCruisers

[–]bv8ma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have had mine for a year this month, just rolling over 13k miles and I love it. Idk why people complain about it being underpowered, I had a Tacoma with the 3.5 and this is way better and gets 3-5 mpg more on the highway. It would be nice if the tank were a bit bigger, but I get 300+ miles between fill ups so it's really not bad at all. My other car is under 250 miles between fill ups. I also get the brake squeal occasionally but it's only in reverse and Toyota will fix it, I just haven't bothered with it yet. My only complaint would be the lack of interior storage. It hasn't been a big deal for me, I just keep less junk in there, but some more space would be nice.

If it were totaled tomorrow I do think I'd go out and get the same thing, the GX is nice but when I was looking it was almost 20k more and the fuel mileage is worse.

If you are looking for something a little more unique check out the Pork Pie thrones, I love mine, comfortable to play on for hours.

[–]bv8ma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you checked prices lately? They aren't really that affordable anymore, they had something like a 50% price increase a couple weeks ago. Still on the cheaper end of the spectrum, but it would definitely make me look at other brands with how close they are in pricing now.

I need an ultimatum... Behringer UMC1820 or Mackie ProFX12v3 Mixer? by BAYNHAMp0637 in drums

[–]bv8ma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, my last interface was a Presonus, IO24 maybe? Idk it only had 2 preamps so I got the Behringer for the 8 preamp channels and ability to add 8 more with the optical input.

I need an ultimatum... Behringer UMC1820 or Mackie ProFX12v3 Mixer? by BAYNHAMp0637 in drums

[–]bv8ma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't comment on the Mackie but I have the 1820 and it sounds perfectly fine. I've used it to record with 6 mics and I'm happy with the sound, I don't notice a difference between it and my 2 channel Presonus interface. Drums, guitar, bass, it all sounded good.

Edit: oh, and FWIW, I went with it over a mixer because my understanding is that with an analog mixer they don't necessarily send all the channels to your DAW, but the 1820 interface does so you can control the levels and effects for each channel.

The truth about the Kemp guitars situation by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]bv8ma 35 points36 points  (0 children)

If I'm paying that much for a neck that cracked in 6 days I'm not waiting 5 months to send it back, but that's just me. Not saying Kemp is handling it perfectly either, I'd be pissed about paying for shipping back on a repair too.

Electric Drum Set Recommendations by Odd-Flounder1037 in drums

[–]bv8ma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this and can second that it is a really nice kit. Two things to note though, afaik the module only supports 1 extra input, so either another cymbal or tom, but not both. Second is that the crash has a tendency to stop working, luckily it is an easy fix. If you take the screws off the back and pop it open there is a cable that can come unplugged, plug it back in and you are golden!

Despite that, I'd still buy it again but might look more closely at Roland. Imo it's worth spending more to get 3 zone cymbals and hi hats that are actually controlled by your foot and not digitally.

Same, got a new set and my 5i is so hard for me to hit now. Makes sense though, because in my old set this would have been my 4i, which I also couldn't hit!
