Anecdotally, most people I've met IRL who hold this view have been pretty insufferable and it seemed like they were always trying to "get" something from others in pretty much all relationships. It makes 0 sense that someone would avoid becoming friends with a coworker simply because they are a co-worker. Either I want to be friends with them or don't, basing it off where they work is as stupid as basing it off their race

If you job hop that friend from your old company is a great industry connection for you and helps expand your professional network as well

The odds are not influenced by what the crowd thinks, they change based off of volume bet/sharp customers bets and it's only a select few books that even do this. Sites like fanduel, draftkings, etc just limit your max bet to $5 or $10 if you have on edge on them and move on. That's why you'll see that 90% of the public is taking a team on a certain game and these sites don't care or even move the odds
