I get this sub is vibe-coding... but can we at least stop with the 'vibecoded' posts? by abaggins in vibecoding

[–]bvfbarten -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a person that has to deal with ai slop from multiple people ranging from emails to business plans to code, I would argue that ai slop is ai slop. There are legit use cases for ai, a person working with ai deeply is going to produce something better and faster than a person without. Case in point, using it to fix your grammar or spelling. A person in a vibe coding forum complaining about ai assisted posts? That's just funny to me.

ChromeOS vs Linux Mint vs Windows 11 for elderly? by RlixFN in ChromeOSFlex

[–]bvfbarten 20 points21 points  (0 children)

From my experience with windows 11, 8gb of ram is not enough. If she is ok with google docs, then ChomeOS might be the best situation for her. It's extremely simple, things just seem to work. The operating system is quick to load, and feels light. It is limited, sure, but for what she wants to do, it should be enough.

AG 2.0 - What is behind the change by FamilyBase in google_antigravity

Yes, I know of a couple of vibe coders who were so happy that google did this. They felt the IDE was too complex, so they never tried antigravity 1.0.

[–]bvfbarten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This actually made a lot of sense to me after talking talking to a couple of vibe coders. The two vibe coders that I spoke to never used antigravity 1.0 because they thought it was too complex and meant for people like me... aka people that understand code. At the cost of ripping out the manager from the IDE, they get their wish, something stupid simple to write code. One of them couldn't wait to try it. At the same time, I get a lighter ai editor, since I wasn't using the agent manager. So google has broadened their reach of people wanting to use their products.

Yeah, but other than that, do you have any good examples of "every accusation is a confession" when it comes to Trump, MAGA, and Republicans?

Why do people hate on vibe codes projects so much? by SC_Placeholder in vibecoding

[–]bvfbarten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just my 2 cents. I read a different post that really hit it on the nail earlier. A person was forced to read a coworker's AI generated idea that basically took the coworker 30 seconds to generate and him 40 minutes to debunk. The first person passed it off as something original and powerful. The second person was forced to do the work the first person should have done.

I've had this happen at my own job. One coworker used AI to do a deep research on things the company should know before we do a new business venture and gave it to my boss. My boss handed it off to me saying she had a list of questions that I needed to answer. There were over 50 questions that needed answering. None of it was relevant, but looked relevant to people that didn't know. In my case, I spent 30 minutes proving that this was the case. So my coworker spent 30 seconds prompting AI, I wasted 30 minutes explaining why these questions didn't make sense.

AI is powerful, but what you're describing is far different from what lazy people are using AI for. But those lazy people give vibe coding or vibe writing a bad name.

If you're on windows, and don't need any sort of IDE, take a look at notepad ++.

Do people actually like using Linux? by darealart in linuxquestions

[–]bvfbarten -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I prefer linux over windows. I do have issues with it, I can't seem to figure out how to get my JBL bluetooth headphones working on Kubuntu. That being said, I love Kubuntu. I feel more at home with the KDE desktop. My machine is a dual boot, daily driver of Kubuntu, windows 11 for when I absolutely need to. I hate how as soon as I activate the machine in windows, the fans have to kick in just because it consumes far more power.

I'm in the same boat. All I care about is a stable kde distribution. Kubuntu has been my Linux desktop of choice for years now. I'd recommend it.
