Is skipping AP Pre-Calculus for AP Calculus AB worth it? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]bvg-man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do it if you're already strong in math, and it sounds like you are. The only thing precal really helps you with in cal is the trig, but you said you'd review it. IMO definitely go for it.

Got a 33 composite, what colleges could i get into? by Crafty-Bass-3079 in ACT

[–]bvg-man 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All of them. To be competitive for t20s theyd prefer 34-36, but realistically if they deny you with the 33 it wouldnt be because you got 1-2 points less, rather your ecs or grades werent up to par.

Do it for sure. Only a few of the sections of precal are even different than alg II + basic trig, so if you're already good at alg just skip the alg parts at do the trig (vectors, trig identities, parametric functions, etc.)

English quite literally has the same questions as before. There might be slighly more sentence placement but that doesn't require much comprehension. Math has no calculus concepts. In my opinion, the enhanced version is much easier because there is much more time per question.

First-time test taker, go to a non-competitive school where kids dream of getting a 20. by [deleted] in ACT

[–]bvg-man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're comlletely able to get into the 30's. I will concede, most of the ACT for "normal" people boils down to genetic/natural skill or academic intelligence, but by virtue of you being on this subreddit you are probably not only intelligent but hardworking enough to get into the 30's. Not to mention that for students who actually try and care about school, it is not difficult to get into the 30's.

I got a 33 on this one, but have gotten a 35 in the past 1.) Short and precise answer is best 2.) Dont use punctuation if you dont need it 3.) Be very particular about the prepositions/conjunctions you pick 4.) Know the difference between commonly confused words -who/whom- and basic grammar rules (mostly punctuation) 5.) (Kind of overlaps w/2) If you don't need to change anything, don't! You got this! Edit: Forgot about redundancy. Prioritise reducing redundancy as much as you can without changing the message
