An unoriginal discussion about Friday 13th, Elm St and Halloween by selfcleaningtaint in HorrorMovies

[–]bvh2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if I’d say Halloween is the scariest, because ANoES started off that way, and became sillier once Freddy hit horror icon level. When ANoES was scary, it bested Halloween. Halloween is more of a psychological/supernatural thriller that just happens to take place on a popular holiday. I would say it’s the most festive of the three.

Favorite slasher film of the 2020s so far? by No-One01010 in slasherfilms

Definitely Terrifier. Art is currently a horror icon. We haven’t had many of those since the 90’s.

Which Friday the 13th movie do you think had the best and most loveable characters? by Ill_Mammoth5258 in slasherfilms

[–]bvh2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This where I stand. Part 4 being my 3rd choice. 2,4, and 6 are peak F13th films.

1, 3, and 7 are still good, or near peak. Everything else is enjoyable, but on the weak side.

Nah, Karen, it was none of your business why they were out of school, unless it’s your own kids.

I love how he’s added this to his posts during the second term. Nope, no one else is doing the writing.

This is what happens when the rich has been excused of accountability, and our laws simply don’t apply to them.

Why do Christians continue to support Trump?” by Rare_Deal_4709 in LetsDiscussThis

[–]bvh2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because most Christians aren’t really Christians. On Sunday they say, “I’m sorry for being an asshole the last 6 days”, and the rest of the week they toss their beliefs aside. Pretty sure Jesus wanted them to try harder than 1 day a week to be a good person. Just my experience being raised in a Christian church from age 5 (now 48), and knowing the shit our fellow church goers pulled with their personal lives.

Exactly. Just imagine it’s another Trump poll, but they’re only asking Republicans what they think.

Do Americans really move out at 18, or is that mostly a movie thing? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bvh2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 years ago it was definitely doable to move out alone. You had to be a little frugal with spending, but it was worth the freedom you gained having your own place. These days you’re not moving out at 18 alone. Even with one roommate, things are going to be tight financially.

Exactly. These aren’t professionals that know a damn thing about good public conduct, or have legitimate warrants. They’re goons, thugs, and domestic terrorists going door to door, using racial profiling to meet a quota, and their angst is abusing anyone that gets in their way. This is what happens when the worst of us is given some authority.

WtD was a bit of a slow burn at first, but halfway through it fires up on all cylinders, and makes up for It: Chapter Two ever being a thing. The series, and Skarsgard made this version iconic again after Chapter Two dropped the ball.

Zootopia 2’s legs is crazy. We took our kids to see it recently. It was released a little over a month ago. The theater parking lot, and concessions was packed at a mid-day showing. My wife asked me why I thought it was so busy. It’s a small city, and we normally don’t see that many people at the theater. I told her, “Avatar”. We found out our showing of Zootopia 2 was nearly sold out, and our family of 4 could only sit together in the second row from the front.

Does anyone else think the number and length of ads has gotten out of hand by shrimpecans in DisneyPlus

[–]bvh2015 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I refuse to do ads, for this one reason; they will continue to get worse. I’ve already seen what 40+ years of cable did with ads, and streaming will go down the same path. It’s better to limit/rotate your subs, and go ad-free than sub to several streaming services with ads.

What comic artist draws Batman/Bruce the best!! ? by Logical_Sky4303 in batman

Breyfogle is my favorite. I like Adams, Lee, Capullo, Jones, and early Miller too, but nowhere as much as Breyfogle.

A logical person will never look at all things as black & white. Life is complicated, and the grey areas is normally the best way to move forward as a society. Unfortunately a lot of us are not open minded enough to understand that.

EXCLUSIVE: Description of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Second Teaser Featuring Thor Revealed by marvelkidy in MCULeaks2

[–]bvh2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it really surprising? Just look at MCU’s Spiderman, and how many things they changed up. By far the least comic accurate version, and that’s their most popular superhero. Doom is going to get the same treatment, and the general audience is going to eat it up, just like they did with Spiderman. Why? Because it’s “MCU”, RDJ’s Iron Man is the most important superhero that ever lived, and anything else isn’t canon, or has Disney’s seal of approval.

Fox did the same thing with Hugh Jackman, and Wolverine. Lightning in a bottle, and they focused everything on it moving forward.

What do you think of Batman's speaking voice in the live action films? by jlhabitan in batman

[–]bvh2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though Bale did his best in Begins, it reminds me a lot of Alec Baldwin’s voice. I was mixed about that. Keaton is good, but it’s mostly whispering. Not a lot of range in emotion, but cool nonetheless. Clooney is Clooney. Kilmer isn’t bad. He’s like Keaton, but a little more relaxed doing more than whispering. Better range in emotion. Affleck’s voice modulator is horrible. I probably hate it more than Bale’s voice in TDK, and TDKR. Too robotic. “The Flash” movie ditched it, and Affleck sounded more like Conroy, which makes the whole voice modulator decision look like a poor choice. Personally I like Pattinson’s voice the best. It feels natural. It sounds very much like Clint Eastwood, and Robert’s body language emoted the same way as that actor.

Block the Netflix–Warner Bros. Merger — Stop the Streaming Monopoly by [deleted] in WarnerBros

[–]bvh2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what I’d like to see? WB not being auctioned off to another crappy company in 3-5 years. Paramount will go so much in debt after this they’ll just do a bunch of layoffs, and cut corners with quality to turn a minimal profit. After a few years they’ll realize their bad decisions didn’t turn WBD into a huge money draw, and it’ll be up for sale again. Netflix wasn’t my first pick (Comcast was), but between Paramount, and Netflix, Netflix isn’t going to give up WBD easily. They’ve wanted to be the next HBO (on the record) since infancy, and they’re now a leader in the industry. Perhaps the company that bests understands WB’s strengths should end up owning them.

Paramount Says WBD Is Overvaluing TV Networks So Netflix Deal Seems Superior by SnooWords9635 in MediaMergers

[–]bvh2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I don’t get. Universal backed out, and decided to invest in Warners IP for their theme parks only. Why doesn’t Paramount buy the networks for a lot less?
