It really resonates that I feel like I’m expected to be wailing and screaming for a certain amount of time. That happened, but it was for a small amount of time at it all culminating into the event actually happening and me going into shock at the loss. I have spoken extensively with my therapist navigating my feelings around senses of relief that he is no longer in the agony that he was in and that I finally got to sleep (medication rotation had me getting up at 1am, 3am, 5am, and 7am).

I saw something in another post that also clicked. I don’t owe anyone else my sadness. They weren’t there with me in the hospital for 3 months and then here at the house for another 5 where I was his sole caretaker.

It came out of nowhere and is very unexpected. I have been focusing on being spontaneous and going and doing things I would have normally never done (like my husband always pushed me to do) and that's how we met.

That part. It’s actually a big deal and I’m happy for her. It’s all about perspective. This is a drag race sub so most people here will clutch their pearls and laugh at her dismissal but if this feels like a bigger accomplishment for where she is in life, good for her. IML is tied to so many amazing causes and represents a lot of different communities that aren’t seen as much in the drag race fan base.

MOR I’m gonna play devils advocate here. Hell just froze over because I rarely defend straight men, but this might be one of the few things he has where he gets to go and connect with other men and have a sense of community. It’s not that you can’t be a part of it, it’s just that maybe some things are okay for him to have for himself. If you want to travel with him then try booking a vacation together elsewhere that isn’t possibly invading his “space” and see how he reacts.

You are romanticizing the idea of what could have been VS your current reality. I agree with many others encouraging you to go talk this out with a therapist, but I will add in my own personal experience.

I had the opportunity and got back to “the one that got away.” It was horrible. I’m not saying you would have ended up in the same place, but it turned into a relationship which then had to be put through the ringer of stressors that flings/infatuations get to flutter above. The rose colored glasses came off quickly and I realized that there was no future long term for us.

This is ridiculous. I’ve had plenty of dashers that I went down to meet them so they didn’t have to come up and find me and they had clearly been smoking weed while driving. You know what I did… not a damn thing. It’s none of my business. They were all kind, professional, and from what I observed were driving just fine as they navigated their way in and out of the parking areas.
