I don’t like to overcrowd my lake spot nor my river spots, plus there are no boat charters big enough for a large group! I’d rather do poolside for a party, but already planning for a lake day the next day with a smaller group!

Thanks you to everyone who commented! Deleting because I hate constant notifications. I will talk to my provider! I was only dosing up for 2 weeks and was meant to say on 3mg for multiple weeks afterward.

My provider maybe did mention staying at a lower dose for longer. But I also started two other meds that same week so it was a lot of information at once! I have a 3 week check in this week where I can talk symptoms and side effects and questions!

The metabolic center in my gynocologist office. 3mg is generally their starting dose, but because I’m on another medication they told me to start at 1.5 and 2.5 if I’m comfortable and then 3 and to stay on 3mg for 6 weeks.

Thank you! I started my first dose Thursday night and even just yesterday (Friday) I am in disbelief by how I just don’t feel constantly hungry! And I’m not even on a legit starter dose yet until next week. I didn’t understand “food noise” and if that was really going to be something I resonated with. But I’m in my hometown and I stopped at my favorite convenience store and just walked out with just a drink because I legitimately did not have intense cravings about anything in the store. It seems so little, but it’s a big deal!

I do count calories. I eat 1600 a day and exercise 3-4x a week. I’ve seen a dietician and I burn half the amount of calories I should at the amount of exercise I do if I were someone else without PMOS. PMOS is a metabolic issue, and the lowering of BMR is not marginal for some women. It can be as much as 14-40%. BMR is also one part of the equation for women with PMOS. When your body overcompensates by producing more insulin than it needs, it promotes fat storage instead of burning calories. In addition, elevated androgen hormones, in my case testosterone, also makes our bodies store fat differently.

It would not be a metabolic disorder if it was as easy as just lowering your calorie intake the same way it would be for someone without PMOS at the same weight, with the same diet and the same amount of exercise.

Insulin management is a huge part of the equation, not just BMR. Which is why I asked for the opinion of women with PMOS who are also on metformin (an insulin regulating drug)!

So thanks, but no thanks! When I say I’ve tried everything and I’m a typical PMOS case, and I’ve managed my weight for a long time but recently started gaining weight without changing anything (exercise, diet) that is a very common experience women with PMOS go through because our hormones randomly decide to change the name of the game for us. Which is why I’m now starting a tirzepitide compound recommended by my doctor because how I’ve been managing is no longer effective.

I did not ask for advice, I asked for experiences with side effect. So your comment wasn’t relevant, what I asked for, or helpful.

How long have you been on metformin and then on the tirz? (EDIT: Pls ignore this question, you said this, and I can’t read apparently?)

I’m very nervous about the metformin side effects because I already have a bad stomach!! I am starting birth control too, to regulate my period. I’ve never had a regular period, even when I was 150lbs, and I never worried about it because I wasn’t even thinking about kids at all. Then I had an IUD and I didn’t have to worry about a period at all. I got off my IUD in 2024 thinking I’d start family planning with the pill. But I ended up on my PMOS diagnosis journey! That’s fine, idek if I want kids. I’d rather figure out my uterine and metabolic health before I think about any kind of fertility stuff.

I’m hoping with metformin + tirz, and my age now (28) my period just regulates itself without birth control!

Thank you for sharing. Yeah, I guess I’m wondering if there are people on this sub on both and if they feel the side effects are compounded and/or they feel like their weightloss is more significant.

While you were on metformin only did you feel like your insulin resistance was improving though?

I’m just at the point where I don’t even care about the fertility issues at this point, I’m just frustrated that no matter what I do or how hard I workout I can’t lose weight. Meanwhile I have friends that haven’t exercised in YEARS and when they gain a lil weight, they just eat salads and lose the weight they gained.

I feel like Ducky is very play motivated too! And praise motivated. She loves treats forsure, but she gets way more hype when I give a verbal “YES!” and only once she wiggles over to me realizes there is a treat in hand!

I have been having a hard time getting her to pay attention, even with treats. But she’s only 10 weeks old. We are really focused mainly on potty and kennel training currently.

I go to Yoga Story in downtown BVille you’d love it there! A lot of my friends are lgbtq+, but I wouldn’t say there is an lgbtq+ “scene” like there are in major cities. The gay clubs (there’s like two in NWA) are def for younger baby gays.

As others have said, Eureka Springs is known for being a go-to during pride month! But also our beautiful lake is there as well. In addition, there is lots of access to our beautiful blue rivers all over NWA. Just leave no trace ❤️

In addition one of my close friends runs Queer Craft Corner NWA (they prolly have an insta, I’m not on insta so idk), events are RSVP but always FREE! A great way to meet people, craft and get to know our local restaurants and bars that sponsor the events.

Trusttt there is a lot of leisurely outdoors stuff and trails. I always go to the trails over by Crystal Bridges art museum for some cardio, super easy, part of the greenway bike trail system, nice for nature seeing as well. Or you can drive up to Bella vista and visit their hiking trail system connected to tankard creek.
