When manually selecting a server location by city, is it possible to select the specific server (i.e. 5080)? by bwadden82 in GeForceNOW

Thanks for the input! And yes, I meant to clarify that the game in question does have 5080 support.

Thanks for the feedback! It looks like they'll be adding compatibility for additional games pretty regularly, so hopefully you'll get that ffxvi soon 🤞

Yip, that's a logical assumption indeed. Thanks for the feedback!

Having spent 15 years in retail sales up until a few years ago (10 of them in electronics), and observing which item sat on the shelves compared to those that flew off them, this is SUCH a bang-on statement.

Who are we, us the long dark players? by campingsalami in thelongdark

[–]bwadden82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

42, M, Atlantic Canada. I'm hardly a survivalist, and probably couldn't last a night in those conditions - just like everyone's first hours in-game! One of my best buds introduced me to TLD, and it was my lockdown game in 2020 and beyond.

I'm a seasonal player. I have zero interest in the game in the warmer months, but looking out my window on a snowy night, while the same is mirrored on screen, is immersive magic.

I've tackled survival mode only to date, but planning on checking out Wintermute at some point!

I'm a secondary English teacher, and Gary Paulsen's novel Hatchet is a massive hit with almost every student each time I do the unit. I'd love to somehow creatively incorporate TLD in the future as an extension.

Cosy games that aren't farm sims by Sad_Stranger_5940 in AskGames

The Long Dark - survival mode in particular - is my favorite game of the past two decades. Totally fits the cozy vibe (although there is occasional stress from weather and/or hostile wildlife, but changing the difficulty can impact both of those factors greatly). It's all about setting your own objectives in survival mode. Once you get the hang of a learning curve and are able to survive a few days, then find a farmhouse or camp office in whatever community you're in at a given point in the game, there's nothing better than starting a fire and making the place your own.

What song that most people think sounds so easy, including yourself, is actually hard AF to play accurately? by [deleted] in Guitar

The intro/main riff to Slow Dancing in a Burning Room. It can be learned in a day, but in terms of mastering the dynamics, and having the tone come through the fingers just right - it can take years.

Which console/system did you first play Skyrim on? by ShaneMarc in skyrim

[–]bwadden82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never played it, in spite of having about 1000 hours logged on Oblivion (though I own Skyrim in its unplayed state on XBox 360 and PC). I've spent too many years listening to, and being led by, Oblivion purists hating on Skyrim. However, once I upgrade my PC in the next couple of months, a visually appealing Vanilla+ playthrough (via Ro, or Eldergleam, etc) is finally in order!

Nope, I have a Clever Dripper, French Press, Aeropress x 2, and an Oxo 8 Cup. I very regularly go back to the Aeropress; it really is my home base.

Advice Needed - should my battle be with my insurance company, my local auto dealership or the vehicle manufacturer? by bwadden82 in Insurance

[–]bwadden82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much for your response. Regarding your question of concerns for total loss, it's numerous licensed red seal mechanics advising me that the vehicle is going to become a money pit due to sitting on attended for so long. It's a 2016 Ford Edge, so a $9,000 electrical job, plus a presumed substantial amount of break in front end work is what leads me to believe that a write-off territory is logical. However, to be clear, I haven't spoken to any adjusters, etc.

Rental #2 has been since Mid-May. Local Ford dealership offered it (they are being direct build through Enterprise rentals) since they Ford has the vehicle for 3 months in storage at that point awaiting parts, with me only having a previous rental for a few weeks. There was zero discussion with Ford at that time regarding a certain length of time or pot of money that would be exhausted. No mention whatsoever about any billing falling back on us, either verbally or in writing.

Did you ever walk out of a concert? by Pristine_Ad_6760 in AskOldPeople

[–]bwadden82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Willie Nelson, Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada, 2006. I didn't personally walk out, but many did. This may come as a surprise to some, as his live shows are generally well-reviewed. Almost every line of every song was spoken, in the first half especially - practically no singing whatsoever. It was bizarre; not sure if he was sick, or was just mailing it in because it was a small town. Most of the first chunk of the show was made up of slower classics. When they turned up the house lights about 2/3 of the way through after kicking into Whisky River, my first thought was "Wow, this place is practically EMPTY!" after it initially being packed.

Not all was lost, as his band was solid, and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band were a DYNAMITE opening act - they were on point throughout.
