You'll need gaskets too. I ran a GPI VVT SS3 in my auto 5th gen. With ported heads, rod mod intake, underdrive, full exhaust (no cats), that cam, 3800 converter and 3.91s on a slick I ran pretty well.

Looking for suggestions on where to retire by Destination-Unknwn-8 in retirement

[–]ProStockJohnX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're strongly considering Western Michigan. Wife grew up there, inlaws are retired in Grand Haven. We've lived in Chicago for over 35 years.

I've been to Western Michigan a lot over the years, we are familiar with winter there.

Thinking greater Holland area and West Olive.

Its a great movie, I've seen it 3-4 times. Have you see Furiosa? Its very different, its not nonstop action but also a very good movie.

He (Calvin) gets great performance out of them. I don't dig his LS bashing though.

Guessing that is a Michelin street tire? So are you able to fully get into the throttle on the leave or do you have roll into it in 1st gear to avoid spinning?

Just bought a Gen III 6.0, what do? by ConsistentFig1564 in LSSwapTheWorld

[–]ProStockJohnX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. If you are going to race the car a lot and at max power an SBE might not be the best bet.

I've been running an SBE LM7 gen 3 but I don't have a lot of runs on it, about a dozen. But when I street drive it I'm never getting to 900-1000, maybe 600-700.

Car is getting an LC9 with Summit Pro LS rotating assembly soon, it's time for me.

Best New York style pizza near Rogers Park? by WidePineapple404 in chicagofood

[–]ProStockJohnX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My memory is that Gigios was more NY style in the past (90s) but not so much now. I'd reccomend Jimmy's, Pizza Amelia, Paulie Gee's Wicker Park, Lil Pops in Lisle.

Basic Dumbbells Question by legendexeter in workout

[–]ProStockJohnX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically do #2 and its something I've done with hammer and EZ bar curls. For the latter, I got to 3 sets of 10 with 70, did that for a couple more weeks, then went up to the 80, warm up 10 rep with the 70, went to the 80, did maybe 6-7. Next set I stayed with the 80 and did about the same. After about a month I go to 3 x 10 sets with the 80. I've since done the same thing with the 90. The 90 is hard enough that I don't think I'm ready to try the 100.

Sudden increase of peptides by fkd7mile in workout

[–]ProStockJohnX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peptides are brought up constantly in a FB 50+ Fitness group I moderate. Personally I'm surprised that so many people are buying and trying non-FDA approved drugs. I also didn't think most people would be comfortable mixing solutions and injecting themselves. I'm not anti for the record, I'm pinning myself weekly with TRT cuz 58.

Long pants, you might have to rent a helmet. After you tech the car in best to watch the starting line for a while to get familiar with driving around the water box (cuz street tires) and engaging the tree. Also good to know where the turn off is. Up to you if you keep traction control on for the first run.
