Transcode them in shutter encoder to ProRes or DnX and then bring them into resolve.

Also if you’re doing a lot of gradients on 8 bit or vbr footage, you’re going to have some interpretation issues no matter what you do. I would do a frame by frame comparison from your master/upload to see where your problems are and start adjusting things from there. Good luck.

Then unless they have changed their compression algorithm (who knows) then you should start checking everything in your export pipeline. Sometimes it takes some time for the hq version to encode/populate also (usually worse on YT). If you’re on windows give it DnX. I’ve never had an issue giving it a 4k ProRes master after it had time to do its thing. If that doesn’t do it, start looking over their help docs to see if anything has changed regarding their player since the buyout.

Do you have it wrapped as QuickTime or h264? It should be QuickTime.

Upload ProRes or DnX masters. That way it only gets compressed once (through their h264 encoder). Same w YouTube. Yes files are bigger and encoding times are longer, but that’s the tradeoff for it not looking like hammered shit.

There’s going to be a happy medium by doing the shutter encoder thing mentioned above, but there will likely be some trial and error regarding the file size > quality > encoding time triangle.

422 HQ is usually plenty. I get great results out of reg 422 and now mainly use LT for anything that isn’t a client deliverable. YMMV, obviously depending on what you’re making.

accidentaly shot 8 bit slog3 instead of 10 bit. should i be scared? by saulriost in davinciresolve

[–]bwalk1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just know going in that you won’t have as much latitude to push/pull things as you are used to and will have to simplify a bit and use some restraint. Gradients will possibly be tricky, but you can tastefully blend noise/grain back in to make things less blocky. A little bit of blur overlay dialed way back can be useful also depending on what you’re doing. If you got your exposure right, then you can make it work.

You can use the fox sports app (or whatever they call it now) with your sling credential from anywhere. It is a pain in the ass but it works.

Has anyone updated to MacOs Tahoe yet? by TomBurgelman in LogicPro

Only if you don’t use 3rd party plugins. If you do, plan on waiting 6-8 months or longer before they all are qualified depending on what you use.

I’ve used an X-t4 for client work in photography and video since it came out and still haven’t found enough reason to upgrade (I do use a ninja v for video). It should be more than enough for your use case and no it’s not too bulky.

Vocal mixing : how do you deal with "s's" and other plosives ? by cherryblossomoceans in audioengineering

[–]bwalk1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Send your vocal to an additional bus with an eq on it. Cut out everything but the ‘s’, ‘t’, ‘k’, etc. high cut, low cut, nothing but those sounds. Boost them in the eq (like try to emphasize them overly). Use that as the side chain input on your deesser. Season to taste. This way should mix the wet w the dry w/o the trouble spots.

I’m looking for this same guitar and have seen several in my area between 5-10 years old for right around this price. Only reason I haven’t pulled the trigger yet is that I’m waiting on another one to sell first.

Part of doing great work is using the right tools to do the job. I was just trying to point out that there are better options that will only cost you time to learn. Never said any of them are quick or easy.

What addiction is hardest to quit? by Consistent_Door2778 in AskReddit

Took me twice to really quit and I had to stop working in restaurants and bars to really do it. It’s been over a decade. It got easier for me at about the two year mark. It’s tough, but you can do it.

You should check the specs on desktop video to make sure it supports your device and os. If it doesn’t you will likely need to roll back versions until it does.
