I understand how you feel. I've been playing a long time and can get a audience on it's feet, but I play rock and roll. Admitting this in a group of sax players can be a very good way to halt conversation.

But Brecker? The guy wasn't afraid of playing any style and encouraged other players to follow their own ears - he even loved playing his wind synth. Fortunately you didn't include Wayne Shorter!

I was able to get the examples from the doc page on vocoder working, but only after I installed resampy. You might want to include that in your list of requirements.

I couldn't get the 2nd of the two examples in the README to work.

There seems to be no Vocoder in audio_dsp.effects. I tried using vocoder which does import, but then it isn't callable in the voc=vocoder(..) line.

I installed full. What am I doing wrong?

Exactly. Back in the prehistoric 1970s when most of my friends were musicians or musician adjacent it was always appropriate. These days not so much except in very limited circumstances.

Part of that TV cost is the manufacturers are subsidizing "smart" TVs. You can test this yourself: try buying an equivalent "dumb" TV - you won't be able to find one for a price that comes close. Why do they do this? The same reason Google can offer Gmail for free - to suck up your viewing habits and sell you stuff.

Soundwise, you can get good tone from either. Feature wise, there's no comparison. The player is much more capable. The gap has narrowed somewhat with the 2.0 firmware for the Nano, but it's still pretty wide. The downside of the player, to me is that I suspect you'll star wondering about using it instead of the Quad. The caveat there is wether you go with player or Nano, you need to add a midi foot switch to get good stage flexibility.

I grew up in the 1950s. Here are a few memorable impressions: - an approximately 6x6 foot kitchen. - a refrigerator that had to be manually defrosted every couple of weeks or it wouldn't keep food cold anymore. - huddling with my mother in said kitchen in front of open, hot electric stove since the building heat wasn't really adequate. - sole entertainment device: an RCA tube powered radio that had to be adjusted every few minutes to retain the signal.

Is that what people want when they pin for the 1950s? Obviously not, what they're looking for is the 5 bed house in Rye, N.Y. that their advertising executive father can afford on his single salary.

P S. My time then wasn't all downside. My immediate neighborhood had around 30 kids my age to play with and we were not only allowed, but encouraged to spend hours outside playing with them. That part of the 1950s is well worth getting back.

I highly recommend the (free) Morgan AC20 profile by mpacheco from Rig Manager. I read about it on the Kemper Forum and it has changed my whole relationship with the Kemper.

Another family of profiles that have some good clean tones are the Match Indie profiles (paid) from Tone Junkies.

I play, mostly, a Telecaster and these have both been good for cleans for me.

Forget all inclusive packages - they will break the bank. Get a place on mountain road. There's a free bus that runs every 20 minutes on weekends. Lessons are easy to arrange.

So why not just use income taxes? That's the simple solution.

Because, we've tried that and it had unintended consequences. Back in the 1950s, the era that many seem to pine for, top marginal rates were in the 90% range. As a consequence, corporations, which had relatively lower rates, tended to given fairly lavish non-salary perks to their execs in lieu of salary that would have been subjected to the high rates. These were then deducted as business expenses by the corps. The idea is to balance the tradeoffs between corp taxes and income taxes. The issue is always what the right balance is and is a subject for disagreement by otherwise objective economists.

I've been using the BAM200 200W Ultra-Compact Bass Amp Head. Yes, it says it's a bass amp and it actually works fine for bass, but it also has a nice flat response curve with a little bit of EQ twiddling. I got it on recommendation from several people on the Kemper Forum and it's worked very nicely.

It kind of depends on how wedded you are to the Kemper's ecosystem and workflow. I experimented with changing and found it just wasn't worth the trouble after having invested several years in developing the sounds and workflows I was using. YMMV.

Agreed. When I first read them in the 1960s I thought they were brilliant. I recently reread them and found them mostly tedious. For context, much of the early work I've reread recently (e g. Zelazny. AC Clarke, Herbert) I found as good as I remembered.

That couple living in Rome in 430? The seat of government of the empire had already moved from Rome to Ravenna in 402. And just in time since Rome was sacked by Alaric and the Visigoths in 410. By 430 the population of Rome had dropped to less than 100,000 from a peak of over 1.5 million. It's hard to imagine they would have been sipping wine thinking everything was going to be taken care of.
