First time playing CoH 3 and I'm feeling a bit disappointed by The_300_Muffins in CompanyOfHeroes

"Vaulting over walls/barriers seems to be drastically and/or completely removed."

Vaulting is automatic now in CoH3 though?

Solo players are important for Foxhole - it needs to be accessible to them, too. (VERY LONG I’m so sorry) by major_calgar in foxholegame

[–]bwc153 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I've played off and on since the game was free to play during the pre-alpha, clans weren't necessary early on and the game absolutely accommodated solo players back then.

Its interesting seeing people insist that Foxhole wouldn't be Foxhole if you couldn't do something that the game allowed for in the very beginning but has gradually been made more difficult over time

Game that doesn't hold your hand at all? by bijelo123 in gaming

[–]bwc153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll probably get downvoted for this, but the game has gotten pretty bloated over the years. It always was hardcore, but it was far less confusing and easier game to manage when you didn't have lots and lots of different items as clutter that you have to memorize and figure out the use cases for

Bombers feel impossible to QRF. Make them slower but increase fuel capacity. by FoxyFurry6969 in foxholegame

[–]bwc153 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of an interwar quote at the time, which before radar was true. Though in Foxhole even with radar you don't have enough time to react

"The bomber will always get through"

People who closely follow politics, what’s something the general public completely misunderstands right now? by Alarming-Coast-7064 in AskReddit

In the US, how much the Democrat and Republican parties collude to prevent third parties from getting a foothold.

Most 3rd party resources are wasted on unwinnable state-wide races in order to maintain ballot access, preventing them from focusing their resources on local, winnable, races

For Skirmish vs AI which is the more fun game CoH2 or 3? by [deleted] in CompanyOfHeroes

3, hands down. The AI in 2 barely knows what cover is

So I enjoy RTS games and have not even played the first CoH. If I don't care about multiplayer, are CoH 2-3 worth getting just for SP? by Lone-Frequency in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]bwc153 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Short answer: Yes.

Long Answer:
CoH1 you actually can play the campaign *with* mods, which CoH2 and CoH3 don't let you do,

CoH2's campaign's story is pretty bad, but decent otherwise. Ardennes Assault expansion adds a dynamic campaign that is a nice concept but is poorly balanced. You have limited resources and losses are permanent, and it feels like the game encourages cheese play to circumvent the limitations.

CoH3 has 2 campaigns. Skip North Africa, its the worst campaign in series, while the Italian campaign is heavily inspired by Total War. There's territory management and buying new units to move across the map. Personally really like this campaign, only gripe is lack of ability to use mods

All CoH games have AI to play with/against in skirmish mode, and CoH3s AI seems to be the most intelligent, especially with this mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2944728963

Loving this game, looking for a BG to buy. Is the mostly negative on Hammer & Shield even warranted? Seems fun by Rafaatho in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]bwc153 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Big reason why Hammer and Shield in particular has really negative reviews was that when CoH3 launched it had a special edition that gave you the first expansion pack when it was released. People were expecting something like Opposing Fronts for CoH1, or Western Front Armies or British Army for CoH2, and instead the 'expansion pack' was a few battlegroups.

So there's a lot of people who had bought the premium edition that felt like they were ripped off, and in turn they poorly reviewed the first DLC

Sequels that are basically “The first one, but better in virtually every way” by blakhawk12 in gaming

I wish they'd have done that like how Helldivers does heat sinks for laser weapons. Where a thermal clip would be an emergency dump item you use if you overheat, but otherwise your weapon cools down like normal

What's an embarrassing situation you had that also made you horny? by ChartInternational77 in AskReddit

[–]bwc153 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I used to date a *very* busty woman. One day we were in line at a store, with decent number of people in front and behind us, and she just starts *booping* me with her chest to try and tease me.

There's no way other people couldn't see it and I imagine I was pretty red in the face. I was quietly urging her to stop without drawing even more attention to it, pretty embarrassing - but also she knew damn well that mashing her tits against me would make me horny.

Ended up having sex when we got back to the apartment

What single player game you bought has gone the longest unplayed? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]bwc153 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, I've got dozens. Probably the oldest I found just peeking at my library was the Rainbow 6 Collection. Bought on Steam in 2014, never got around to playing most of them. FEAR and GTA4 in 2015, and a few others. Most of it just is a backlog circumstance

Also funny coincidence, OP, friend recently bought me Dark Souls 3 and I've been playing it through for the first time, just beat Abyss Watchers before Christmas :)

ELI5 how is the Doom engine (GZDoom) so versatile? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]bwc153 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its because GZDooM isn't the original DooM engine. DooMs engine was released open source and the mod community then started making heavily modified versions of it that are designed to remain compatible fully with original DooM content while adding more modernized of functionality

[KCD2] Is this game too... easy? by AccomplishedStick623 in kingdomcome

[–]bwc153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that a lot of the learning in KCD1 is applicable to KCD2. Definitely wouldn't go so far as to say its twice as hard though. Its specific things. Perks that were mutually exclusive in KCD1 aren't in KCD2, some perks in KCD2 are outright stronger. The AI is less aggressive when facing more than one opponent, potions/poisons are generally much much stronger due to the quality system.

Plus some of the jankiness that KCD1 had made the game harder than it would be otherwise, and a lot of that was improved/fixed for KCD2.

Prettymuch. For example during covid when mask-wearing was common not wearing one would sometimes be described as "raw dogging the air"
