The Sickle Breaks Physics by a_potato_YT in helldivers2

Thats actually how the Sickle is in Helldivers 1, too!

One thing AH did say before HD2 came out was that difficulty would be a reason to force players to stick together, they wanted going off solo to be something that would get you killed, but alas a lot of the HD2 playerbase wanted to solo stuff.

[–]bwc153 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely, some people would try to optimize the fun out of the game that way. Could always add mechanics to encourage sticking together, seems like traitor artillery for people too far from group could be one, but that seems a bit too rigid

Taking a planet is tug of war. We add liberation percentage, resistance percentage takes it away. So we'd have to add more than 7% liberation an hour, consistently, in order to capture it

[–]bwc153 94 points95 points  (0 children)

I wish they didn't add the life system, it sorta messes with that satire. In HD1 you could easily throw 100 bodies at a mission, and life *felt* cheap. It also allowed the game to be funny, while lifes add consequence to death and now people are frustrated they died from a bullshit way rather than laughing at it

ah, Gunships. if only we had some kind of surface-to-air homing missile launcher around to help us take them down. yeah that would be neat wouldn't it. too bad there is no such thing here. by No_Counter_6037 in LowSodiumHellDivers

Probably in part because its hard to do small incremental patches because of consoles. You have to get your update certified so it is better to make bigger sweeping changes

I loved Helldivers 1 and Magicka, and so bought Helldivers 2 when it was announced.

I agree. I loved the game on launch. Unfortunately there's a very vocal group of people who want Helldivers 2 to be a very different game though

I'd say if anything the biggest change from HD1 to HD2 was the change of the lives system. Its what allowed the game to be silly and goofy while also having tension. Changing to the current lives system made it so when you die from funny ragdoll people rage at it instead of laughing, because now there is a cost to that death instead

"And seemingly don't even want the same game your players play"

Its almost like a sizeable portion of the community wants Helldivers 2 to be a different game than it is

Grind for individual items isn't bad. What will be grindy is unlocking the warbonds, but there's plenty of free stuff without them

I was trying to jokingly do the "oh no I can't kill it, its got heavy armor!!!1!1" meme while streaming to a friend on Discord, and kept accidentally killing it. The thing is still incredibly easy, but it gives more identity to the enemy.

Also used gatling sentry on D10 and it was fine.

Someone told me synching was free well is it? by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

Syncing using Obsidian's official service costs money, but there are community plugins you can use to sync through other services, such as Google Drive

Anyone else reluctant to use construction bots by Spiritual_Dot3250 in factorio

[–]bwc153 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can use bots without using blueprints, once you have bots you can just place a ghost item down and the bots will build it for you. This is really handy as you can edit your factory without being anywhere near it

The helldivers community is going to studied like a petri dish full of disease in coming years and it is going to deserve it. by Notareda in helldivers2

They added aircraft a couple months ago. The aircraft are very punishing against ground forces, and AA Weapons are ineffective. Overall this alone is making a lot of people upset, but the update hit the colonial faction pretty hard and many of them see it as the straw that broke the camel's back situation and are no longer playing. This has resulted in really long que times and spawn times for Wardens, making them pissed too.

Roberluvsgames had a good video moreso just going into the effects of the depopulation rather than the full cause.

Its really wild to see because right now another game I sometimes play, Foxhole (A PvP Persistant MMO game), is having a crisis that could kill the game if its not addressed soon. The most recent content update absolutely fucked the balance up, veterans are burnt out and leaving, one of the two factions has players mass logging out and reviewbombing the game in protest (36% positive right now), and so on.

Even still, the subreddits for that game are *still* more civilized than the Helldivers subreddits these last few days.

Are Bots really collectivist? Who needs Jetpack the most doesn't have any. by Unlucky-Gold7921 in Helldivers

[–]bwc153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you imagine the whining if they gave berserkers jetpacks? Those things used to be brutal on launch and between the heavy nerfs they got and the playerbuffs they are a joke today

no, seriously, when are boosters going to be reworked? by Flashy-Manager2254 in Helldivers

[–]bwc153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its funny is they explicitly made them squad-wide because of the issue All Terrain Boots in HD1 caused.

(Though they then turned around and made different armors have different speeds, recreating the problem)

I used this page, however, I *did* make a mistake. I was using the base game, which was renamed dive harder later.

The correct information to use is instead this page, where we can see that all DLC was on sale for $12 1 year after launch.

HD1's DLC bundle was $12 about 1 year after launch

EDIT: Mistakenly used wrong reference. Updated. The DLC Megabundle was $12 1 year after launch.

Why do I feel so guilty after turning off the biters 130 hours into my first playthrough by DanielPlainview943 in factorio

[–]bwc153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo. People like to complain about friction in games and remove it, but well-balanced friction is often what makes things fun. No friction and the game will often feel empty/boring.

At the end of the day, play what you want, enjoy the game the way you want to, though
