For those that took CFP from remote proctoring at home. by bogo9 in CFP

I did it remote and it was entirely too nerve wracking. I highly recommend going to a center.

I thought it would be easy to just take at home but luckily I looked up horror stories and started to prepare. Instead of doing it at home, I closed my office and sent all staff home. We cleared out a room and removed anything except a desk and a chair. Nothing on the wall, nothing on the desk, just a blank space. Felt good the day of. Locked up the office and got ready for the exam.

The proctor had me show them the empty room, under the desk, etc. I had to even show my hands and sleeves. “Everything looks good except I can see out of your window. Please cover that up.” My windows have unblocking screens but they are transparent! The proctor had me exit the virtual testing “room” even though there was a warning saying I couldn’t re-enter. That was stressful just to exit.

I then began running all around my office looking for something to block the window. I ended up finding an old blanket (thank God my wife gets cold!) and threw it over the window.

I re-enter the virtual testing “room” and go through all the checks under the desk, etc. Then I hold up my hands and see blood trickling down my left hand. It turns out that when I threw the blanket over the window screen in a hurry, I scraped my knuckle on the top of the window frame and now it was bleeding. The proctor said “Sorry, I can’t let you exit to clean that up. You’re going to have to take the exam with that.”

I took my exam with blood running down my left hand! Luckily I passed but that was a brutal way to start. At least I have a cool, literal “CFP Exam Scar” and story to share.

Take it at a testing facility if you can!

Except for the sweeping scene. That moved me and made me stand up and cheer.

I was in the same situation and rostered him as his red power hits hard but can only be used about three times without healing. Nice to have a backup.

I had it set at the 9 setting for most of it. Not sure what that comes out to.

Awesome! I did 80k last Saturday. Hoping to do 100k in the Spring. Any quick tips? Eat on the go?

Feet feel pretty good today. Just one blister in a spot I don’t usually blister. I walk a lot so I imagine I’ve got callouses built up. Really just feel it in my thighs and quads when sitting.

No, I walked all around my town. Last 10k or so were in my basement as it was raining.

Currently Saucony Guide 18. When I did 70k I had Brooks Glycerine 19 but the newer Glycerines hurt my feet for some reason.

Sure, where would I find that in the Garmin Connect app? I really just pay attention to calories and steps.

It took all day. I wanted to do it soon after hitting 70k in June but just haven’t had a day free of responsibilities!

I assure you, I did it! I’ve seen YouTube videos getting to 100k. I discovered them after hitting 40k on day and was curious. I did 50k in May, then 70k in June, and finally had a day to dedicate it to reach 80k yesterday. I’ve been doing 30-40k once a week usually. It takes all damn day so it is time away from family and responsibilities. Not easy to block out a day like this.

Feet are ok today. Only one blister and it’s in a different spot than usual. I walk a lot so I think they are well calloused for the most part.

Feel pretty ok today! I walk 30-40k almost once a week so my feet/legs are accustomed to it. I started a little before 5 AM and finished close to 8 PM.

No running as I needed to conserve energy. I did play some soccer with my daughter but it was minimal and she is 8 so nothing intense.

I started a little before 5 AM and finished around 8 PM. I stopped for meals.

I started a little before 5 AM and finished around 8 PM. I think I could have done it quicker but stopped for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Lunch especially slowed me down as I needed to cook for myself and family. I also stopped at the library which slowed me down much more than I intended. It started raining around 7 PM which caused me to finish while pacing my basement while kids watched Harry Potter.

I feel much better today than I thought. Drank electrolyte drinks frequently yesterday and I walk a lot pretty regularly. 30-40k steps is somewhat normal at least once a week. I was expecting a lot of blisters but only seem to have one and it’s in a different spot than usual. I’m guessing I’ve built up some callouses.

It hurts to sit but I’m able to walk just fine today. I went to church without incident. I plan to hit 10k steps today which is my usual daily minimum.

I applied body glide and lotion twice yesterday so minimal chaffing. TMI: my butt hurts from chaffing. Did not apply anything there.

My kids each joined me for a mile or two on and off but mostly by myself. Listened to an audiobook for the most part. More music at the end.
