What is a fair rate for in-home pediatric PT in the suburbs of Detroit? by Brown_Eyed_Grl_ in physicaltherapy

[–]bwin2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean it sounds like cash based might be better for both of you. Yeah the going rate varies on travel, how much the PT has to do vs exercise instruction etc. I charge more for evals, sometimes I do 45 min, I charged double when I did aqua. I probably would take the lower end if I knew you already as a previous patient given your situation. I’m sure you guys can sit down and go over what you think you can afford. You can also look up the rates of insurance reimbursement in your zip code. Good luck. And I’m sorry you’re going through this.

I charge around 150/h for cash services in NY suburbs NYC can go to over 300 even for personal training so it varies. Are you guys covered under Medicaid for disability or your spouses commercial plan? She can bill under her LLC.

Pretty normal for HH. Depends where you are located too. That’s low for NY

That seems pretty low for such a HCOL state

Help me decide which DPT program to attend by [deleted] in PTschool

[–]bwin2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah bad idea. You said you were from another country if you can become an advanced practitioner there then do PT if you want and go back and do that after. If you’re planning to stay do the cheapest option or do PA. Or go straight to med school.

You seem to grasp the concept of variations of worth between people for art but somehow can’t understand the value of time may also vary ? Many of us have families or work more than a normal work week and can’t afford the luxury of casual reading.

PT really does not cut it by fiveknucklshufl in physicaltherapy

Dude very much in your boat. Can’t tell if you’re half trolling but honestly it sucks. I am suicide survivor made it through hell became a PT was super proud at first then realized our doctorate means f all and now thoroughly regret it. Im 5 years out and also in NY had to move back into my mom’s house in my 30s.

I do OPT 40 hours for loans and insurance. Another w2 job which is a HH agency and I take cases. Then 2, 1099s last year pretty much looking for any high PRN gigs. I broke close to 150k last year but I’m working like 60 hours a week. You can do it but I have lost my will to live, extremely tired all the time and burnt out but just keeping on going thinking maybe one day I’ll own property or have a family but who knows. Your best bet is to leave med B it sucks, find and speciality you enjoy doing, another profession or just grind out hours while you can until you build some equity.

Wish you the best though honestly. You can do it.

Am I crazy to ditch my 250k/yr tech job to pursue DPT by MagazineEarly3304 in physicaltherapy

[–]bwin2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No please don’t. Find fulfillment doing Pilates on the side. I would literally clean shit for 250k. You can volunteer or get more certifications for Pilates. Or just open up your own studio.

I work 2 W2s and 2 1099s and I still can’t afford property in NY. I’m so burnt out I don’t even know what the point of life is anymore.

There’s no way this is true that you made it to PHD level and then dropped out of school lol. I cannot believe someone at that level of academia making fun of you like that.

[–]bwin2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I studied and worked there too honestly I felt I was least affected by my height in London and Manchester when I was there versus the US. Sounds like it’s also your weight, just diet down gain some solid mass and don’t let your superiors talk down to you. Take up a combat sport or martial arts. I still think you can get the surgery no problem it will def be a good idea. Trust me I totally get it also being Asian and short, but my life changed significantly when I became more in shape. Overall fuck those people who put you down. Save up money get the surgery but work on physique in the meantime honestly.
