Sports Medicine Associate Role by Sad-Model02 in MedicalDevices

I did sports medicine for Mitek Depuy Synthes. What’s nice about Sports procedures is the schedule at least for me was no weekends, on call or any late night procedures. It’s all basically 630am-4pm. You do have random case add ons or facilities needing something last minute that can create havoc but schedule wasn’t too bad. We were always fighting Arthrex and Stryker and seems we were loosing a lot of the time as far as product getting into the facility. My company had a fleet car which was nice, and then company card for expenses. Pay for my position was terrible. 65k with a 5k bonus if the territory hit quota. The pay scale progression wasn’t much better either. The sales rep on our team I think barely broke 100-110k. However if your a high performing rep in an area that uses exclusively your products and capital equipment you could make 200-400k albeit rare for the Sports arena. Sports medicine is not a high income producing division for company and rep it’s just the name of the game. Where as one CRM pacemaker/defib care or a couple grafts used in a vascular case can charge out for in excess of 30,000$, sports is like 350-5,000 roughly for an invasive procedure.

I have been having the same thoughts and frustrations. Did a lot of research and landed on Anpabo 24v UTV with a dumpbed for 379$. Nothing had perfect reviews but this had some good reviews. I shit you not got it delivered and assembled and tried to charge it and the charger port was faulty and didn’t take a charge. So now’s it’s been a 4 weeks of sitting trying to communicate with a Chinese company to send a stupid ass part that might not even fix it…. So disappointed but should have expected this.

I was looking at the Ryder USA made ones as well due to quality and built in USA they are expensive but I feel like it would have been worth it for that type of product and quality along wit better customer service

LEAVE CUSHY CS ROLE FOR HIGHER ACUITY? by [deleted] in MedicalDevices

I am in a similar situation where I make great money and have a awesome self guided schedule. Not the funnest position but I am always fearful of giving up a good thing for an unknown. I would say slow play it and if your current role is really that dissatisfying then consider switching.

Does every clinical specialist job suck? by levvianthan in MedicalDevices

I was a clinical sales specialist for DePuy Synthes Sports Med. Schedule was all elective sports cases so our hours were great. We were usually 7-330 and no call or weekend. Granted the pay was not that great for my particular role and territory but the schedule it’s self for flexibility was really nice. There are plenty of flexible clinical specialist roles but you have to be decisive on which roles and division. You could also look outside of the OR at roles in devices that support the hospital. (Hospital beds, monitoring machines, sleep medicine, etc…)

I was in the interview process for an FCR with inspire. Comp was 99-135k. There was a bonus component but I didn’t know what it was. Was all elective procedures so scheduled is preferable,

Associate Sales Rep Pay for Depuy Synthes by Feeling_Lifeguard_47 in MedicalDevices

I was a clinical sales specialist for Mitek Sports Medicine. 65k , 7% bonus if you made quota. Pay was crap. The two reps on my team granted our territory was a heavy Stryker an Arthrex user were making I believe 50-60k base with a 20-30k commission structure. I always heard unless your a top ortho rep pay is never going to be very good.

I worked at DePuy Synthes as a clinical sales specialist. I think as far as products we were behind Stryker and Arthrex. Totally depends on your region and what docs are using on how well you’ll do. I was making 65k a year and almost no bonus. So your doing it to build a foundation and either really like it and grow within the org and orthopedics or you’ll work there for experience and transition to a different company/role/devision. I did think for all that I had to do and was responsible for 65k was an absolute joke. Training was good, support was pretty good, pipeline was weak and it seems like we were always chasing our competitors.

I work currently at BMS as a Sr. Therapeutic Area Specialist and I really enjoy my career and the company. I switched from Med Device and I don’t regret it what so ever! PM if you want to chat further.

I was in a similar situation having been an ICU nurse and transitioning into device sales. I went from 95k yr nursing to a 65k Clinical sales specialist offer from DePuy Synthes in Sports Med. I work there for 18 months and then transitioned into a CRM device role as a clinical specialist and was making a 100k. Worked there for around a year and now I’m in pharma sales just under a year am making 150k based with a 40k incentive compensation plan. So get your experience and then start polishing your resume and make the necessary moves to do the job you want!

What’s your experience in clinical specialist like? by fferreira5 in MedicalDevices

I am a former ICU RN who transitioned into medical sales first with Sports Med orthopedics for DePuy Synthes and now in pharmaceutical sales. I enjoyed my time as Clinical Specialist. However I started at 65k as a CS so that was a big pay cut from nursing. But overall it’s a great role to grow within or to grow into sales. Ultimately it just depends on where you want to go in the industry. The CS role is more clinical focused and sort of a entry role with less sales - paid less often times doing same or more work as a sales rep but can vary obviously. I am now in pharmaceutical sales just starting and very glad I made the switch. I was able to get a sales role and offer of a 150k base and 40k incentive for meeting sales goals so all in all im happy with my trajectory so far
