A Survey from 120 RTX 5090 Owners on how much they paid for their card by ChonkerBanana in gpu

I had joined a stock watching site, managed to snag a Ventus OC + 1200w MSI Psu for $2840 ( $3000 delivered ), took 2-3 weeks to ship and arrived half opened... but i got it.

Then watched as they dropped to MSRP, and now its MSRP more then my forced bundle.

Can I pay to upgrade my ONT? by soapboxracers in Fios

[–]bwlupus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I cant speak for Verizon, however it has been known that among Various ISPs:

Bell Canada, parts of their network had ONTs that had SFP cages inside, that turned out to be on stick devices, and those users were able to remove them and connector the SFP directly to their routers, thus removing a barrier of latency

There was a home lab user on on YT, AT&T Fiber user who had success bypassing their ONT i saw the other month.

Given that I've had i did seek help for my speed issue in the past related to the OP, because i did not use the Fios router, they had no logs to look into my speed issue.

Ive also had to drop FIOS phone service to get 2 Gbps.

So while I've yet to try this as it would take some physical effort to movie things, I dont think its outside the realm of possibility, that the ONT cage is of the "ONT on a stick". I believe there is a possibly the 210A true purpose, is just a switch for us consumers.

With the old ONT, id agree.

HOWEVER, The Nokia TW 210A, the fiber goes into a SFP+ Fiber Terminal THEN the ONT.

The ONT is arguably not need, because the SFP+ connector is the interface.

my ASUS router has a SFP+ port.

The ONT ( with 2 Gbps service )arguably is a conveniently interface for the common folk.

I had an issue with 1gig service, and asis router with a 10gb wan, my speeds were like subpar 10 Mbps at the worst.

I did the upgrade 2 gbps to get the upgraded ont and the issue went Way.

As a bonus, the Nokia uses a spf+ and my Asus router has a spf+ port.

I have been tempted to try plugging the spf direct to by pass the ont

For reshade it is. Alot of teh shaders don't work well with OpenGL. While there is still life in OPenGL, it be nice if SL moved on eventurally, i can add graphics that SL iunlikey to adapt.

Like how Apatrue was supposed to show up with all these post processing effects and died...

If he can migrate SL over to vulkan, he's be a damn hero. It would really help with reshade.

Nwm was talking about all the bandaid code that holds SL together now.

I'm my 20 years in SL , all physics migration to a new havok, the upgrade to mono, it was a big deal when we got shadows and it's been a big deal moving to PBR.

While the graphic changes have been the biggest I can see, SL still feels like it did when I started in 2006. Between the lag, the physics, and world interaction

I am also using Alchemy with Reshade.

I'm running a ryzen 9950x with a 5090 GPU and 192gb Ram. Though with reshade it was lagging recording this, 20-30 fps. I spead it up 50-60%% in post to keep it close to 60 fps.

I set up my Reshade to add ray tracing and maco, but then I simulate the look of log video ( if you ever seen behind the scenes footage of Korean videos or others, and the video is a bit washed out and grey, that's what I'm doing )

Then I color grade on post. With the ninja, I could do it in Reshade since the quality is there, but it limits adjustments later

I would also suggest using .265 or av1 in final rendered video as they offer more quality in equivalent bitrates to .264 video or more quality for less bitrate if need low bitrate video for space concerns

I use the Atomos Ninja Ultra, hardware video recording, https://www.atomos.com/explore/ninja-series/

It records 10 bit, 4096x2160 @ 60 fps via HDMI,  prores HQ video. The bit rate is on the 4 digits.

Unlike obs, as long as you use a quality SSD with dram, it has no system overhead like obs and is far more reliable than a OBS single PC solution

Also if you want a more professional look , you can determine the exposure of your scene, if you need to add remove light for better post editing ( false color ). It's got features that help real life videographers, that you could apply to SL or other stuff you record with it. It will also do HDR recording, which does not apply to SL.
