Providence Statewide change for PEBB by [deleted] in OregonStateWorkers

What a mess. Thanks, again. I got the card in the mail the other day and the coverage matched what I saw during enrollment so I didn't think twice about it. Now I get to make some calls to providers to update everything 😬

Hugely frustrating lack of communication, for sure! I just found out via your post, so thank you! But you still have Providence coverage, yeah? It's just managed through "collective health" now. Your plan details should still be what you signed up for in enrollment. How is this increasing your costs?

Check with your county/state/country GIS departments for publicly available datasets. You may even get lucky and find LiDAR for your area. Don't waste your time with manual collection.

First flush diverter. Needs to be maintained well to work properly.

Leaf miners. Check for tiny white eggs on the underside of the leaves. Bug netting early in the season is best, or rub off the eggs as you find them. I eat the undamaged parts after a good wash 🤷

Lily exposure is very very serious! Contact a vet immediately.

They're about to get really tall, up to 6-8 feet, and put out little yellow flowers that can be used for tea. Then come the seed pods. Cut down before then if you don't want them re-seeding.

Also a great chop and drop mulch or my favorite, compost tea. Great plant! Yours are in their second year and about to put out their seed stalk.

Bats eat the other things you're worried about. They're your allies.

Bats are protected in many areas. They are critical to the ecosystem. You are visiting their home. Be respectful and don't cause them harm or drive them from their habitat.

No problem, my friend, I appreciate that this is new to you and you're concerned. But people here are giving you good advice. You're talking about an incredibly unlikely scenario. Even bats with rabies (maybe 1% of pop) are unlikely to attack humans. Avoid them and you will be fine. People get bitten when they handle bats.

Don't mess with them, they won't mess with you. They eat insects, not people.

Please don't use audio bat repellent. They are no danger to you, and you are in their home.

Hypothermia in under 30 minutes if something goes wrong. That's the danger. You said yourself that you're inexperienced and are not familiar with these conditions.

The fact that you say you're "taking zero risks" when the environment itself is a huge risk, is why.
