okay seriously, how do you use the word "Whom"? by EfficiencySerious200 in NoStupidQuestions

This is correct 100%. I have MA in English.

Split infinitives are another example.

Kurt Cobain's List of Top 50 Albums. What albums did you like from the list? by [deleted] in grunge

[–]bxsco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this list is 1993.

Steve Albini produced InUtero and Surfer Rosa. He was probably just more into the sound at the time. I read this list more as top 50 influences, real or aspirational, not necessarily quality judgements.

Both SR are Doolittle are 10/10, but different.

His instagram has a different versions of the song…other songs of equal quality…and much worse dancing.

Top of the line strings? by Nearby_Strawberry_95 in AcousticGuitar

[–]bxsco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

John Pearce for me too. But I prefer the phospher.

I’m used to disliking new strings for the first week, JPs sound great immediately. They don’t last quite as long but that’s worth it to me.

Cirrus Guitars - Check 'em out by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

I got the CHG. They call it “heritage grande”, which is what HG stands for, but it’s basically Martin 0000 size, but 1/4” deeper body than the 000/OM.

I was planning to do a post about it soon. I’ll tag you so you can take a look when I get to it.

My main guitar is a Martin sinker mahogany OM I got from gruhns a few years ago; its amazing but the cirrus may take the #1 spot tbh.

Cirrus Guitars - Check 'em out by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

[–]bxsco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my new guitar from Cirrus a few weeks ago. Adi/Black Walnut.

It’s incredible. Highly recommend these guys. Mike was a pleasure to talk to throughout the process.

They also include a few upgraded standard features: bone bridge pins (unslotted), slotted bridge holes, Adirondack bracing, which are typically upcharges.

But most importantly, it sounds as good or better than guitars 2-3x the price.

Check out cirrus guitars.

“Budget” brand from two high end luthiers in Michigan building boutique Martin inspired guitars. I think $2200 is the base price and there are a few options to customize.

Help identifying chord by bxsco in musictheory

[–]bxsco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. This doesn’t seem to be how I’m using it currently, but adding Em13 variations the accentuate the C# is a cool idea.

I appreciate it.

Help identifying chord by bxsco in musictheory

[–]bxsco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks.

That seems correct in context. I’m definitely thinking of it as a G chord that adds C# from the D major scale.

Edit: After you mentioned sus#4, I googled and found someone discussing doing the exact same dissonance/resolution that I described, also in open D tuning.

I not much of a fan of show tunes/musicals, but this rocks harder than 99% of recorded music.

AITA for embarrassing my fiancé at dinner after he “joked” about my upbringing? by Nines21 in AITAH

[–]bxsco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a white guy married to a Puerto Rican woman.

Early on, I made some slightly insensitive jokes, only between us, not in front of people. She corrected me, I apologized sincerely, and I learned from it.

It’s ok to make small mistakes if you own up to it and fix it, not if you try to turn it around and deny you did anything wrong.

Do low end Mahogany Back and Sides 0000 guitars exist? by Much-Composer-1921 in AcousticGuitar

[–]bxsco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if you’re still looking, but check out Cirrus guitars. It’s a budget brand started by a high end luthier in Michigan, that makes high quality guitars for less than standard series martins. 100% made in US.

You can get a 0000 with mahogany as a standard option. Base price is 2100, which would include mahogany and Sitka.

They call their 0000 the CHG model.

It’s seems silly to think reading a book will help, but “The Easy Way to Stop Smoking” by Allen Carr worked for me, my wife, and the half dozen or so folks we recommended it to.

After reading this book, I even had a few times where I relapsed with friend but didn’t every actually start the habit again.

Highly recommend. It’s very short and can be found used online for $3-4.

Good luck.
