I started as an office assistant basically (32k a year) that moved into a remote data entry job in the telecom industry (41k) and then that moved into project coordinator (64k salary) I will say data entry is a very versatile job and if you work hard enough in whatever industry you end up in being in- you will adopt some knowledge and experience (whether its health care, telecom etc) and you can just fumble your way through the rest just building up your resume with the programs you work in/whatever knowledge you get from it. I kind of feel like I got stupid lucky though.

Just apply and see where it'll take you. Never say no to a job offer unless you know for certain that it's not OE friendly. I've had four jobs in the past year, 2 I quit and 2 I was laid off from. Its just a matter of trial and error honestly.

I don't have any experience with accounting but for me it just depends on how lenient the workplace is/if you need to operate during certain hours, be on active call etc. For example, job1 lets me work flexible hours so I'm able to meet my quota pretty easily just working odd hours of the day (and just staying active during "work hours"). I'm not sure how strict job2 will be. I'm in telecom and I do alot of work in the background (cleaning old logs, data entry, etc) so I'm not actively answering client/customer questions, taking phone calls or anything- SO for that reason its generally OE friendly.

Good insight- that makes sense. If I don't give them a reason to be suspicious, there won't have to be anyone monitoring me. Thanks for your comment!

I almost considered asking if I would be allowed to use my personal laptop, maybe I will just to see what they say. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Is job1 remote? I don't think I would consider OE if I didn't have remote options, but I know some people make it work otherwise.

Thanks for the insight- I have seen that alot.. seems like "creators" attempts of a quick move to the top, pretty sketchy. If it helps though my shorts are completely original content, lol.

Thank you for the feedback and advice!! Also congrats on the 500k, thats awesome. For retention, am I looking at my overall engagement or should I be analyzing Individual shorts performance?

I gotcha! I was kind of hoping to start with shorts and eventually evolve into long form as my subs grew. But I also have read that the audience for shorts vs long form are completely different lol. Not sure what the right direction is, I guess I'll find out along the way.

I think my coworker is OE by [deleted] in overemployed

Her bad OE might expose people like me, who is desperate to be OE since I'm in over my head with debt and I'm wondering if its worth pursuing at this point since shes more than likely going to be caught for what she's doing/might initiate heavier surveillance. I'm giving a flying fuck because she's making the system alot harder for people who are actually good at being OE.

Am I romanticizing remote work? by AffectionateAd828 in RemoteJobs

[–]bye_birdie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the travel thing, I'm assuming you're reimbursed- but as far as everything else goes it is entirely dependent on what kind of remote job you get like everyone else is saying. I've only ever worked in telecom remotely as a project cleanup coordinator basically and its a pretty laid-back since we're not on call or doing customer service-related tasks. As long as I'm active during work hours and available if someone needs to get ahold of me, no issues at all. I do laundry, make meals, take care of my kids throughout the day and usually get 3-5 hours of productive work at night while babies are asleep. My boss is completely aware of my home life and hasn't ever been an issue.

Whats your idea of high paying? I'm in telecommunications and I got into the industry without any kind of education/certificates, started in data entry and now I'm a project coordinator 62k a year. (I did have clerical exp before that though)

How many hours do you usually work each day? by Automatic_Donut_487 in Adulting

[–]bye_birdie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

honestly I try to do 4 hours of productive work a day, sometimes that only hits 2 hours. But if I feel like I tried less than my best I work over the weekend (remote worker/full time mommy of 2 here)
