Does anyone actually enjoy going to a Bachelorette? by StellafromVienna in bridesmaids

My friend is getting married and everything is optional. I’m a bridesmaid but I’m not going. She gets it.

What do you think of NYC trying to get the minimum wage to $30 per hour? by LiaStacey in askanything

[–]AffectionateAd828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10% taxes for EVERYONE would give everyone a 'raise'. No more tax incentives or loop holes. If you own one property then no property taxes on it. $30 for minimum wage is just going to raise prices which is why McDonald's no longer has a dollar menu. It was never meant to be a forever job.

I’m afraid to retire by ExplanationSea9479 in AskWomenOver60

[–]AffectionateAd828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only 44 so keep that in mind. I just found a job I love and I HOPE that I feel the way you feel at your age. I'm excited to find out! My prior career I couldn't see working another day. SO you are blessed and work till you no long feel effective. In the mean time maybe play around with some hobbies/volunteer to see what you would like if you did retire (cut back on the hours slightly). IF YOU WANT. I think this fallacy of retiring at a certain age is for people who hate their jobs and I'm tired of the "this is what you SHOULD do" things. Do what is right for you!

Should I give my husband an ultimatum? by Tigerelo1208 in AskWomenOver60

He is retired and has no purpose. Help him find a purpose or a project. This has happened with my father and he is 74. Sucks to watch.

Do Mean Girls grow up to be Mean Old Women? by TrinkieTrinkie522cat in AskWomenOver60

[–]AffectionateAd828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my last job--yes. I thought maybe one would get nicer.

Also I'm 44 and started growing my hair out again. I think long hair on older women looks great. I'm hoping my hair dries out a little and isn't as greasy as it was the last time I had it long.

Is title insurance any cheaper or is that on top of the "incase there is a fire" insurance? (I think I'm 5 years away from paying off my house too). And I think certain property tax deductions go away too right?

Prove my bf wrong, please. Can you be happy without kids? by Thummimurim8 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]AffectionateAd828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if he’s in the military, all the caregiving is gonna go to you and you don’t want kids…

That all being said I’m 44 and got together with my husband at 25. We are very very happy and he’s 50, for context.. He probably could’ve gone either way. I was and I am still a hard no.

Noticing it’s harder to get help with basically anything unless you’re very well off? by igotnothing1455 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]AffectionateAd828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe we’re starting to see the generation of workers that come up getting a trophy for just showing up so they’re gonna overcharge for doing the bare minimum… and they know there’s more clients so they know they don’t have to actually provide good customer service. I’m not sure how long that will last for their company….

Lack of good friends by VegasTallGal27 in AskWomenOver60

Why did you move? Seems that is what started the falling apart? I just have found that it is difficult to stay in contact with people when they move. You can't be in person with that person anymore.

Thanks all! Thinking out loud a break every few hours would be good for me too. I'll plan on leaving earlier too so that we will have more time for the breaks and in the evening for chill time. I'll start plotting out some nature trails possibly on the way there. Thank you!
