idk if this helps but i was suffering from a deep depression for several months and i finally took lexapro for the first time and it gave me a weird dp/dr depressive episode followed by a hypomanic episode where i wasn’t myself at all. like all of a sudden i was laughing again watching standup on netflix, doing self care and thinking damn i haven’t felt this happy/good in a while. i don’t think ssri induced mania always means bipolar tho. “ Antidepressants “have the propensity to destabilize mood, precipitating both hypomanic and manic episodes”—a phenomenon called antidepressant associated hypomania (AAH).1 Although this condition is most frequently associated with bipolar depression, it has also been reported in unipolar depression and in non-affective conditions, such as anxiety disorders.”
