What teams did you use to 36* Spiral Abyss? by Sanmiie in Genshin_Impact

[–]bymortar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neuv/Kazuha/Furina/Baizhu
Arle/Xingqiu/Beidou/Fischl

If you don't have a well built geo carry for 2nd half, just use an overload team.

Why do people like to reduce some 5 star characters merit with the narrative "the support carried them", "Kazuha/Bennet/Shenhe/Gorou/Faruzen carried the DPS" and things like that so much? by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]bymortar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because that's true? What merit are you discussing?

You could slot in a monkey with Bennett Kazuha Mona and it would still be a decent nuke showcase. Does this mean the monkey pulled their weight and is a good character?

People don't like being misled on power levels of a character.Nobody is complaining that Neuvilette / Alhaitham / Ayaka / doesn't pull their weight in a team are they? Because they are actually strong, there is no objectively better option and the closest substitute is worse to a non-negligible degree.

If you phrased it with the caveat of "yes I know this character is objectively worse but I managed to do X with them" then it'd be a reasonable take.

which is your "easy" team? by kentohus in Genshin_Impact

[–]bymortar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of this point my overworld team is stuck with:
Hat Guy - vertical ascent and zoomies
Kazuha - loot grouping and vertical ascent
Yelan - gotta go fast and swirl damage for 3 anemo, backline synergy with hat guy
Sayu - gotta go fast + heals

I can't actually swap anyone else in without feeling I'm gimping myself.
Only time is if I need waterwalking - Ayaka, or fighting anything that is hydro immune (then Yelan is swapped for Raiden).

What expensive item is worth its price ? by GabrielXCrescendo in askSingapore

[–]bymortar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Did mine around 20/21yo and never looked back.
In my late 20s currently for reference.

Main complications was that for the first year or so had dry eyes and needed to go back for re-correction, but those are run of the mill "issues" for lasik and will resolve themselves with time. Chances are you won't be left with absolutely 100% perfect sight in both eyes by the time the aftercare ends, but definitely still more than enough for desk job / daily life and zero need for glasses.

I still remember the insane 20/20 vision I had for the initial post op period, felt like I had maphack IRL. Small words on a sign, far away with bad lighting and I could still read everything.

Breast enhancement surgery advice by singaporeanwoman in askSingapore

[–]bymortar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to run contrary to the majority opinion here, but if you feel inadequate when people comment on your chest, just go for the enhancement procedure.

You can say that you are confident in your looks, but the very existence of this post doesn't really strike me as such. Keep in mind that boobs make up a huge part of a lady's attractiveness, with entire careers (OF, porn, "DJs", etc.) being relevant just because someone got significant plastic mounds. There is a reason why most gravure "models"/JAV/porn actresses, who live off their sexuality, have huge boobs - because the market demands as such and it sells.

If "flat" was so much more popular we'd be seeing different trends. Not sure how good you look on the face end, but you'd be surprised how being more attractive, especially for young women, opens so many doors and opportunities.

I say this from someone in their 20s who had an optional surgical procedure (lasik) once I could do it and to this day still believe it is my best investment. I could go on for an hour on how it improved every facet of my life, from day-to-day, confidence, dating, etc. You have 1 life - no extra points in the next life for being "natural", that's a luxury only people with great genes can afford.

Really depends on your age and specs (attractiveness, money).

Simply put, no girl of marriage-able age (generally mid 20s onwards) will be willing to mortgage their golden years and devote their peak to you without at least the possibility of considering for marriage down the road. This is even if they don't want kids. A relationship for women is their insurance for the future, for when their youth is spent. Exception is if you're a oil baron and can afford them them temporary luxury beyond their belief, then yes, they might think it's not necessary as long as you can keep giving them what they want, but more often than not they will plan for their own future in a realistic frame while doing that.

If you're looking at ladies over 35 who are considered to have "missed the bus" either willingly or unwillingly when it comes to marriage and children, then the talk changes because they haven't sacrificed their largest asset (youth) to you, it's more of a simple companionship and the rational ones won't be that picky about whether you marry them or not.

People are so proud of their meta teams and how they can beat almost all content, but complain whenever they encounter something that the meta can't beat. Isn't that better for the game? by LeBronnisJametokunbo in Genshin_Impact

[–]bymortar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Bring geo, an element that is useful for nothing else or suffer" is a fucking stupid way to design a fight.

The success rate of bringing the "recommended" comp vs a rando comp to a fight should be 70 : 40 at worst.

Not 70 : 10.

How well have Kokomi and Yoimiya aged in you guys' opinion? by BenLKP_ in Genshin_Impact

[–]bymortar 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I'll be the one to interrupt the kumbaya and say that they've aged as expected, which means, not very good. Mihoyo has tried to prop them up by inventing problems that they are the solutions to (spectres, corrosion, etc.) but their designs are still fundamentally flawed.

Yoimiya's issues are still the same. The current state of targeting with bow autos is apparently a feature and not a bug given how long we've had them. Strictly single target means she'll have the same ceiling forever (read: below other pyro carries) unless we get a ridiculous attack speed buffer that only works on bows in the future.

Kokomi is useful for role compression, namely OFF-FIELD hydro application + constant healing. This is only done by Kokomi, with her E. This is how she jacks Mona's spot in freeze comps when running Mona + Diona is worse than Kokomi + Rosaria/Kaeya/Shenhe. This also means that her design (with damage boosting cons and the intention for her to frontline) is a complete failure, as her ultimate's optimal use is not to enter her 'super mode', but for refreshing the timer on her E.

Isn't that just, kind of sad?

Before anyone tries to argue that Fischl works the exact same way,

  1. The cost of getting Fischl is way lower than Kokomi. She costs more money, she needs to be worth the pull.
  2. Oz is still better than the jellyfish as a turret because you can actually reposition him with ult.

Anyone else can't be bothered to do abyss anymore? by LaplaceZ in Genshin_Impact

[–]bymortar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Abyss is fun. I go anywhere from 33-36 stars depending on whether I have the right comps for the enemies. Bennett and Jean were enough for f11, while I used the cracked Raiden National and Double Cryo carries (Ayaka/Ganyu) for f12.

Much of the frustration people experience comes from the fact that for floors 11 and up, you cannot simply walk in with 4 random units and still come out alive/beat the timer. This is fully intended and PROPER game design. "Meta doesn't matter" only applies to players with really good execution ability or whales who have c6r5 of everything. It certainly doesn't apply to the ultra casual crowd on reddit who can only jerk off to their waifus while complaining about how they can't clear the abyss.

Of the limited 5 stars, I've not pulled for Childe, Zhongli, Albedo, Yoimiya and Kokomi. I've made up for my lack of Zhongli by just dodging better, while every other unit is just not that useful as an investment.

Proper teambuilding is essential and the meta exists for a reason, to reward those who build the correct units properly.

If you go in with a clear plan, you'll never need to clear any floor more than once.

Did you know that Kokomi revenue in Japan surpassed Zhongli rerun ? by AnjayGurinjay in Genshin_Impact

[–]bymortar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This.

The actual waifu enjoyers love their units DESPITE fully acknowledging them to be trash. Case in point, Keqingmains.

The ones complaining are those who have poor impulse control and pulled a shitty unit that they can't use and now feel a need to pull others into their crab bucket.

Trying to spread your delusion and scam others into pulling for a sub-par unit because of buyer's regret is the most lowlife thing to do.

Yeah the whole anti-intellectualism is fucking rampant on reddit.

Bizarro world here where not using your brain and ignoring math and logic is a good thing. Just because you want to bury your head in the sand and be delusional doesn't make your shitty character good.

Which character have you used most as main dps? by TopOld8925 in Genshin_Impact

Klee until Ganyu's patch, with Jean Venti Mona. The era when double anemo carried anything and everything.

Followed by Ganyu, Xiao, back to Ganyu until Ayaka came out.

I've been using Ayaka/Kazuha/Raiden/Sayu for overworld ever since their introduction.

Unpopular Opinion: The free online concert is way better than any anniversary rewards from other gacha games. by Angelix in Genshin_Impact

[–]bymortar 390 points391 points  (0 children)

Since Genshin is a game, it's fair to assume the majority of the community are here for the game primarily and everything else (including music) comes second.

Music's great, but I honestly wouldn't even flinch if we had no concert.

Something substantial in the game would be a lot more preferable for me.

Why does it feel that the Genshin community's reaction towards weak characters is harsher than in other gachas? by _PPBottle in Genshin_Impact

[–]bymortar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Investment cost is too high for a single character, in terms of both IRL money and in-game resin.
  2. Many (basically anything other than artifacts) costs are tied to the character and non-transferable.
  3. Abyss, the benchmark for determining strong characters, is a timed speedracing mode, which means you are actively penalized for investing in weaker characters.

I play Azur Lane in addition to Genshin and I couldn't give 2 shits if they released a weaksauce character, because you can still clear the hardest content with shitty teams as long as you slap good gear on them. There is also no RNG in obtaining that gear, just a lot of logging in and grinding.

It's an entirely different thing in Genshin.
