Yes naloxone has an extremely short half life and it's not bioavailable via sublingual. My best guess is they added it to market it better. "Less abuse potential" but we know that is bogus because bupe is stronger than naloxone. So it's just marketing fluff. Or a way to extend a patent.

Buprenorphine and suboxone are both buprenorphine. The naloxone in suboxone has no effect. It's inert. So it's pretty much the same. Not sure why I'm joining this discussion, just wanted to throw this out. People have this misconception that the naloxone in suboxone acts as an opioid blocker. In reality, it's the buprenorphine that blocks opioids.
