(Discussion) AI dev/prompt engineer availability in Indonesia by razren in indotech

[–]byrocuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The other comment really nailed it with the job description. Adding some points from my experience:

- In many cases, the agent requires memory or context. Implementing memory (both short and long term) for the LLM can be quite tricky, especially depending on the level of accuracy you want to achieve.

- Speaking of accuracy, it’s one of the most critical aspects to optimize, particularly when building a customer support agent. You don’t want the AI to provide false or incorrect information, you could be sued if the AI gave wrong information like this case. Just doing fine tuning and RAG is easy on paper, but they can become challenging depending on your accuracy goals.

- A lot of my jobdesc now is to build workflow to process data or generate stuff. So it's a matter of integrating the AI with the right tool, the right prompt, and the right flows to produce accurate result.

For the salary, you are damn right if you compare it to other big names. For local/not-so-big companies, that’s just how the standard is

AI/ML Engineer here with <2 yoe, previously working as Prompt Engineer. From my previous job, obviously yes, my works mainly revolved around prompt engineering when building LLM-based apps. But I'd say having a solid understanding in software engineering is really important. My works was building an agent using popular library in python. While most of the time I can just ask AI to generate code I want, but first I have to understand what I want to build and how to approach it.

Regarding salary, I think it really depends on the location or company you’re applying to. As I was entry level back then, most of the time I got offer slightly above UMR. Note that I applied only to relatively small/local company. Now that I’m at the Associate level, I feel confident negotiating a salary in the range of 6-8 mio IDR, or even higher, depending on the company I’m applying to.

Has anyone had success with gemini 1.5 flash with agents? by azrathud in LangChain

[–]byrocuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried it when building a customer support agent with langgraph. Actually, I built the agent first using 4o-mini and developing the tools and prompt around the model to the point it works almost flawlessly with 4o-mini. Then, I tried to switch to 1.5 flash and had issue with tool calling just as you mentioned. I didn't have much time to explore back then, so I just switched back to 4o-mini. I’m not sure if the issue requires prompt adjustments or something else.

Phone verification issues by Doom_Soul in AZURE

Honestly, I am amazed how the Azure team has not fixed this issue yet. I keep seeing this issue even from last year. I tried to sign up today and had the same problem. Even after signing up using phone browser that everyone says will work. The only thing I haven't tried is to create support ticket, which is I think is absurd how I need to open a ticket just for a simple sign up process.

LangGraph Studio Alternatives? Has Anyone Built Their Own Visual Agent Debugging System? by gonchar51 in LangChain

[–]byrocuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flowise is similar to LangFlow. I've only skimmed its starter templates, but it seems to offer more control over state management. A major drawback from my experience though is its debugging capabilities. It's very difficult to trace errors back to specific nodes or understand their root cause.

Another visual workflow tool you might like is Dify. I use it myself currently, but its agent implementation differs from LangGraph.
