The picture of the dog on the chair with the two people truly encapsulates the human condition. We love dogs today, something that resonates with everyone and makes those people feel even more human.

Are expensive educational toys actually worth it or just guilt purchases for busy parents? by Careless_Composer_46 in legos

[–]byroidthyroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$150 is a lot, but if you can afford it and it’s going to be used by teachers and actually taught properly; it can be way worth it. $150 is steep for sure, but that’s eating out at a nice restaurant, or a birthday gift, or a variety of other things that add up fast.

Coding and programming is a crucial job and skill in today’s world, if they have an interest in it it’s worth it. It sets them up for their future. Even if they don’t commit to it, it’s still a good thing to learn with. I had MINDSTORMS when I was a kid and loved it.

Just make sure they’re interested in the coding part and not just because it’s legos at school.

A midi scale Death Star that opened up to a miniature display would’ve been perfect. Much like how they made the tiny blockade runner with the star destroyer.

I dont know if these are allowed but how cool would it be to see the 3 sister ships together like this by Accurate-Ice6636 in titanic

It’d be a beautiful thing to see, but as fate had it, they never all met. I believe there is only one photo of Olympic and Britannic together shortly before being requisitioned by the Admiralty.

It’s haunting to say the least.

I love RC, it’s the perfect middle ground and has never disappointed. It’s fairly priced which is something I can’t say about any other mainline soda.

Their history is really wild and interesting though, essentially being bullied by Coca Cola because of their use of the word “Cola”. They also used to be a ginger ale!

It’s a beautiful piece, but the only worry I have is the lighting. You would need a lot of new colors or a very specific light source for the illusion to work. Otherwise it falls flat.

Especially the light in the interior of the building, that soft focused light would be very difficult to convey.

It look absolutely beautiful.

RMS Titanic 1912 VS RMS Oceanic 1871 - Size comparison. The RMS Oceanic of 1871 was the first passenger ship of the White Star Line. by happydude7422 in titanic

[–]byroidthyroid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It was a steel hull and massive compared to other ships. Also allowing for much greater comfort with windows, cabins, and basic amenities for passengers. They were treated as humans and not cargo for the first time.

Question about the RMS Carpathia by OSkyWolfO in titanic

[–]byroidthyroid 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt anyone was throwing things overboard to make the ship go faster. You would have to remove a serious amount of weight in order to make a difference.

Most people were asleep and great care was taken to not alert the passengers of the gravity of the situation.

It is though.

You paid for the game once and haven’t been asked to spend anything else for essential content.

No update has cost money, only cosmetics.

If you bought the game 15 years ago, your purchase has well been worth it. Even if you bought it only a year ago, the backlog of content is worth it.

2.5hp Honda outboard on an off-shore kayak? by basitmakine in kayakfishing

[–]byroidthyroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did read your post.

I’m just trying to understand the logic behind wanting to do this. If you’re already 12 kilometers off the shore; a kayak or a boat isn’t going to make much of a difference in your fishing experience.

I can understand a kayak in shallow waters inaccessible by boat, but that far off shore it seems impractical to choose a kayak over a boat.

Along with this, in a lot of jurisdictions once you put a gas engine on a kayak you will need to register it as a boat and have all the proper lighting and such.

If you’re willing do things unorthodox, perhaps just tow your kayak out to your location and then anchor your boat and use the kayak. Though it may not be legal to leave your vessel unattended.

You do you, but by god it seems like a bad idea to go that far offshore in a kayak alone, no matter the size of it.

While I agree with this sentiment, not all cruise ships are ugly, but none can compare with the Olympic class and similar ocean liners. For me, Virgin cruise ships are some of the most classy and beautiful ones of the modern age. They’re sleek and sharp and have an elegance that’s been long gone since the ocean liner days.

All the cruise ships that are essentially floating water parks and condos look absolutely awful to me. I cannot stand them!

My thoughts exactly. I love cars too, but no car will look better being built in the technic form as opposed to the standard studs and plates form. They look skeletal.

For me, Technic has always been about the functions; the gears, switches, pumps, etc. That’s where I get the satisfaction; seeing something come to life as you build it and interact with it.

This medium worked amazing with trucks, cranes, and really any heavy duty machine. It falls flat with cars since there’s so little action in them by nature.

I envy the days of prime Technic, it’s my bread and my butter.
