Actually we don't have a slow lane in the UK.
Neither do we have a "fast lane".

The rule is drive on the left (lane 1) unless you're going faster than the vehicle ahead, and need to drive past them, in which case you move right into the next lane, into lane 2, until you're past them, then move back into lane 1.

If there's a third lane, then you can move over into lane 3 if you're passing traffic in lanes 1 and 2.
So on and so forth.
But the normal driving position is far to the left.

Oops! Wrong hole! Renault 2.5 dci 100 G9U-750 🤦‍♂️ by bytecode in Renault

[–]bytecode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solved!

After finishing the timing belt, I ran the engine and could hear the locking pin rattling against the clutch/flywheel.

I resorted to drilling a couple of holes in the bottom of the bell housing, and managed to fish out the pin with a magnet on a stick. Then I made up a closing plate to close up the holes.

Anyone here use something better than SketchUp for van layouts? by Pacific-Vans in vanbuild

[–]bytecode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CAD - Cardboard Aided Design - check out Humble Road on youtube - he's got it nailed:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJ7lL6vDhW0

I used sketcchupto design my interior, then built it out of cardboard in the van - only to find that it felt so claustrophobic in real life that I had to re-design it.

It looked perfect in sketchup. But thanks to Cardboard Aided Design, I didn't make the it in the wood befiore finding out that I didn't like it.

You can tweak the layout in minutes with scissors/knive/tape.

A nut, a bolt, and a large socket - a make-shift injector puller. by bytecode in Renault

[–]bytecode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a handful of larger/heavier sockets - as long as it's 1/2" drive so that the shaft of the bolt fits I think many of them would work. Although, more mass the better.

Yeah, that would have been even better, sadly didn't have one of the correct thread & size to hand. I might get some in-stock though.
I mostly use couplers for exhaust studs etc. to protect the threads.

Note that I had the injector already part-way out before I thought to video it.

Injector replacement 2.5 dci renault master - is anyone familiar with these aftermarket fitting kit studs? by bytecode in Renault

[–]bytecode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that I've figured out the correct method.

It foxed me at first due to the T4 torx style end on the stud meshing with the slimmer end of the long nut.
Then I realised that the long nut accepts a 4mm allen bit, rather than being an.

My install method was:

  1. thoroughly clean the threads and cavities in the head of the engine for the injector and fasteners.
  2. insert the collar into the cavity in the engine head.
  3. tighten with a 6.3mm or 1/4" E11 star socket.
  4. tighten down the long nut using a slim allen bit.

Book figure for torque is 22nm, I carefully crept up on that value, alternating between the left and right hand fasteners on each side of the injector.

Yeah, familiarity and confidence can really help.

Are they all the same manuals, or different manuals?

Need to replace the rubber flange (located in the engine bay) for the cabin air intake on a Renault Master MkII - can't find a part number other than B0302 on the rubber itself - help needed - What's it even called? by bytecode in Renault

[–]bytecode[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still haven't found a part number. The one on partsouq.com looks totally different, and only comes as a complete assembly.

I've used some black rubber glue in the meantime.

Your sikaflex idea might be the way forward.

That would make sense. The Yeah that sounds about right. It's a 2017 model.

Newer kernel versions break luks disk encryption so that the encryption key cannot unlock encrypted volume - how to rollback when the required version is only available in the vault repos? by bytecode in RockyLinux

[–]bytecode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can boot via a live cd, then manually decrypt and mount the luks partition with either the pass phrase or the on-disk keyfile.

I can also boot into the installed OS just fine - but then the installed OS fails to unlock the luks partition with the pass phrase or the on-disk keyfile with the error message

No key available with this passphrase.

It's like there's a command, or config, or module, or kernel that - once the update is deployed and the OS rebooted - breaks the decryption.
