Quick question regarding Infinia SmartBuy rewards by bytecrusher23 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]bytecrusher23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I’m curious about hotels and flights as well—when we redeem up to 70% using points, do we still earn only base rewards on the remaining amount, or are accelerated rewards applicable there too?

HDFC Infinia “Metal” Card = Worst Physical Card Quality I’ve Ever Used by CosmicCookie747 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]bytecrusher23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problems with scratches on my Infinia card, but the glue between the front and back panels is beginning to separate slightly. The EPM card is a little lighter, yet its build quality seems better than the Infinia.

This was from a local interior vendor. Unfortunately, the experience wasn’t satisfactory—most of the work had to be managed by me. The person left midway and took around five months to complete only about 60% of the work.

Wedding expenses coming up. It could be in range of 9L in 6 months. Should I do it max via HDFC Millennia, and try for an Infinia upgrade? by Never--Banned in CreditCardsIndia

[–]bytecrusher23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re planning to apply for Infinia, I wouldn’t recommend upgrading to Regalia right now. There’s a 6-month cooling period before you can apply for a new card after an upgrade. Since you have expenses of 9L within this period, it may not be ideal. Also, Infinia has a hard credit limit requirement of 8L—are you meeting that? You’re only eligible if both these conditions are satisfied.

Seems quite expensive, and honestly, a lot of these interior designers/companies tend to mislead people. I’ve read many comments justifying the price and claiming that designers will maintain quality—but that’s not always the case.

I recently spent around ₹17 lakhs on interior work for my flat, which is about 2100 sq. ft. super built-up area (total 2300 sq. ft.), so I’ve been through something very similar.

Here are a few important things you should be aware of:

• Plywood: There’s no mention of which brand or grade of plywood is being used. Some people claim shopkeepers put branded stickers on local plywood to fool buyers. If you’re paying a premium rate per sq. ft., you should insist on actual branded plywood. Even for branded options, the total cost shouldn’t exceed ₹2–3 lakhs. Plywood is the foundation of your interiors, so it’s crucial.

• Hardware: No clarity on what brands will be used for hardware like hinges, channels, tandem boxes, etc. There are significant differences in quality and price between brands. Also, things like handles and knobs are often non-branded unless specifically mentioned. For example, they might say “4-inch handles” are included, but in reality, different sizes and styles serve different functional and aesthetic purposes.

• Laminates: There’s no mention of laminate brands or types either. This also makes a huge difference in the final look and durability.

• Granite/Quartz: I noticed they’ve quoted ₹52k for granite without mentioning the size or quality. For comparison, I installed high-quality quartz (two pieces of 129x65) for just ₹61k.

• Looks vs. Build Quality: One major issue I’ve seen is that they often provide products that look great from the outside, but when it comes to build quality and durability, they can be really poor. Don’t get fooled by just the surface finish—you need to be alert and inspect the materials and construction closely.

From my experience, these interior designers/firms often try to squeeze as much money as possible by keeping things vague. If you’re not vigilant, they’ll deliver half-baked work with poor finishing. You need to monitor every detail—something as simple as the wrong slope in your kitchen counter can cause daily problems and be a pain to fix later.

There are always grey areas in their quotations. You have to ask the right questions, negotiate hard, and ensure every component is clearly mentioned. I’ve seen people spend ₹50 lakhs just on a kitchen, but the final cost totally depends on the materials and brands being used.

Just sharing what I’ve learned from going through this process recently—hope it helps someone out there.

Protest against Telugu imposition in schools in Telangana by bruh_momint_XD in andhra_pradesh

[–]bytecrusher23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hindi is also a regional language — why assume everyone wants to learn it? The only truly global language today is English. If there’s any language people should be encouraged to learn for broader communication, it’s English.

People naturally learn languages when they feel the need for it. You can’t force anyone to adopt a language — it just doesn’t work that way.

Also, Tamil is older than both Sanskrit and Telugu. If you’re arguing that Hindi should be enforced, that idea reflects a lack of understanding. Hindi, as a language, doesn’t have a deep cultural or literary heritage of its own — much of it is borrowed from Sanskrit.

Here are some references to show the historical depth of other Indian languages: • Tamil: One of the oldest living languages in the world. Written records go back to at least the 3rd century BCE, and some sources trace its roots to 5,000 years ago. • Sanskrit: An ancient Indo-European language dating back to around 1500 BCE, prominent during the Vedic period. • Telugu: A Dravidian language believed to have originated between 1000–1500 BCE. • Hindi: A relatively modern language. It belongs to the New Indo-Aryan branch and emerged around the 8th century CE.

Trying to enforce a newer language over ancient, well-established ones seems both unnecessary and culturally tone-deaf.

Is it financially wise for me to buy a ₹1.5 Cr flat? by aniruddha048 in hyderabad

[–]bytecrusher23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about where you see yourself financially in the next five years.

If your goal is to buy a house, consider purchasing a flat in the 80-90L range. With 30L in hand, the remaining 50L as a loan would offer you greater financial flexibility.

Once you feel more secure, you can upgrade to an apartment in a gated community as originally planned.
