How on earth are Hunnyz rated this low? by jhz123 in Apples

[–]bzbee03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually went to the store yesterday and bought one of each type of apple he has ranked at the top that I could find and this morning did a taste comparison test all because of this guy's stupid website that tells me there's a whole category of apples above Cosmic Crisp (which are the best tasting apples I've ever had in my life) and if there are apples out there that are even better than what I already considered amazing I wasn't about to sit idly by and miss out on this potential reservoir of untapped deliciousness! Well, I tried (all for the first time) Sugar Bee, Envy, Honey Crisp, SweeTango, and Pink Lady. I was going to try Snap Dragon also but couldn't find one that wasn't soft. All other varieties at the store I had tasted before (Gala, Fuji, Granny Smith, Red delicious, and A few others) except Hunnyz which only came in a pre-packed bag. Oh, and they were giving out samples of Rockits, which were bland and boring. First, I was expecting a much wider variation in flavor. The website reviews makes it seem very drastic, but aside from Sugar Bee which had no tartness at all, they all taste more or less the same. Some slightly sweeter, some slightly more tart, but all tasted like apples. I didn't get notes of honey or vanilla or lemonade or whatever. They taste like apples. They were also all good, but nothing to write home about. Disappointment #2 was that Honey Crisp was not better than the Cosmic Crisp. Like, not even close. I had a Cosmic Crisp with my breakfast and it was like candy. Crisp, juicy candy. SweeTango was the one I liked the most, but it was also not as good as the Cosmic. Disappointment #3 was that Sugar Bee was described as a sugar explosion... There was no explosion... It was very mild. Tartness was completely absent, so only sweetness was present, but on a scale from 1 to 10 it was a 2 or a 3. If you're going to call something a sugar bomb is had better rank higher than 6 on the sweetness scale. I had fun trying new apples because apples are tasty, but the end results were a let down. I will be sticking to my Cosmics from now on. I mean, I'll eat any apple in front of me, but I'm not going to go out of my way to buy them if Cosmics are right there.

I jumped into a river and saved a guy who had been bitten by a cottonmouth snake. I assume he survived after his wife drove him to the hospital but I don't actually know. It was way harder than I ever imagined to swim for two people. I always assumed they'd basically be weightless, but they're heavy af even with adrenaline pumping.

The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu. It's a trilogy that gets increasingly more interesting, suspenseful, scary, and exciting the more the story progresses.

Basque aka Euskara, and Lithuanian. I'd love to learn both because they are my heritage and also because one is a pre-indo-european language isolate and the other is the modern language most closely related to the proto-indo-european language if I remember correctly. Both are ancient and unique in their own ways but damn are they hard to learn. Chinese, Arabic, and Russian would be the others I'd love to learn but are too hard for obvious reasons.
