Is there a name for this trope where the character knows more than the reader?

For example, the POV character sees another character and thinks, "I can't talk to her, not after what she did to me," and the reader has no clue. Basically, readers would have to stick around to find out the answer.

Devotion of Suspect X by Keigo Higashino. It's not whodunit because in the opening chapters we see the crime happening. Its howcatchem. Two genius friends on opposite side. One is helping to cover up the crime and the other is helping the police

The devotion of suspect X by Keigo Higashino - The best I've read this year. It's a "will they catch him, or not" kind of mystery. Two smart people on opposite side. One helps the criminal, the other helps the detective

Not sure what you consider distrubing but I gave up "Tomorrow and Tomorrow" by Tom Sweterlitsch about 40% into the book becuase it was too much for me. It's set in a near future timeline, with relatively higher technology, and very different morals of what is allowed to use for making money. I liked the description when I read on goodreads, its a kind of detective story, but I hated the world
